Getting spouse to Canada

Hello,

I have created my profile and am awaiting ITA. My score is 453 and for the past few months, I'm seeing that the cut off scores are not going down.
My fiance just got his PR. We will be married next month, and I'm planning to re-submit my profile after that hoping that my scores will go up and I get ITA soon.

I have a few questions:

1. Is my assumption correct that my scores will increase because my spouse has PR? By how many points would it go up?
2. In this scenario, will the process take the usual 6 months?
3. My main goal is to move in with my fiance in Canada as soon as possible and also be able to work. If there are other ways to accomplish this, for e.g. applying for temporary work permit...please suggest.

I appreciate all the help!
Thank you.

1. No. You won't receive any additional points for your spouse having PR.
2. See above.
3. If you can get a TRV approved (tourist visa), then you can travel to Canada and have your spouse sponsor you for PR throug spousal sponsorship from within Canada. You can then include an open work permit with the sponsorship application which will be approved around four months after you submit the full package.

As said above, you get no points for your Canadian PR spouse. Spousal sponsorship is your best option after you marry.

How long does it take to get a tourist visa? And how long for PR through spouse sponsorship?

TRV can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. However it can be quite difficult to get a TRV approved if your spouse is Canadian.

PR through spousal sponsorship takes around 1 year.
