Getting sponsored by Canadian relatives

Hello everyone,
Here I'd like to share my situation with you.
I'm half Italian (father side), half Hungarian. My hungarian grandfather moved to Canada in 56 and lived there ever since til he passed away in 2008. He's had 3 daughters and 2 sons, my aunts and uncles respectively.
Now I would love to move there from Italy and settle down with my wife, and find jobs. I'm a mobile application developer and team coordinator. I was thinking maybe I could get sponsored by my aunts, my grandfather's daughters or by his wife? Is a direct relationship strictly necessary for being sponsored ?
How about work permits? My wife and I are going to Toronto this summer visiting family. What can We do while I'm there to start the immigration process?
Any suggestion or idea will be highly appreciated!
Thank you

Unfortunately none of your relatives in Canada qualify to sponsor you through the Family Sponsorship class immigration stream. If you are interested in immigrating to Canada, you'll have to look into the economic immigration streams (e.g. Express Entry, Provincial Nomination). You can find this information here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

To qualify for a work permit you first need a full time job offer in Canada from an employer - that employer must then obtain an approved LMIA (this involves proving that no Canadian could be hired for the role). The LMIA process is very time consuming and expensive with no guarantee of approval - for that reason employers are often quite reluctant to hire foreign workers. However you can certainly try.

I have to say, you mention your aunts (3) and uncles (2) . . . What about your Mom (Hungarian I'll assume)?? Where was she born? That's a fairly gaping hole in the story of someone interested in immigrating to Canada.
