Hello Fellow Citizenship Applicants;

I need to start a full-time permanent job in US by May 15, otherwise I will lose the job. I can get official request from my US employer confirming this as well. I want to use this reason/document to request for my file being "urgently" processed.
However, I am afraid the fact that I want to get my passport ASAP to LEAVE CANADA might cause an issue, questioning my entire application. Is this a concern, or I can submit my document/request?

You can go to work with you existing citizenship in the US< it is not a valid reason to get a Canadian passport to work in US and most likely will be looked as unfavorably

The "intent" is important. Of becoming a Canadian and contributing to the economy of this country.

1. You won't get your grant of citizenship faster because of this reason.
2. IRCC will put your application at the end of the line and then in the stagnant applications room for atleast 2 years.

My 2 cents:
Assuming you've applied after Oct.11 and C(6):

1. Technically, the IRCC cannot penalize you for not having the "intent" to reside since that clause was excluded from the evaluation of citizenship application with Bill C(6). So, no, they cannot reject you for working abroad when you've already met other requirements.

2. The IRCC website does state that you CAN apply for urgent processing with the intent of applying/ not losing a job, without specifying it to be a Canadian job. So, yes, you do qualify to apply.

3. Practically, should you do it is another question. As the people who have posted above have stated, it may become a reason to stall your application even more. Some people experience unreasonable delays just because they were travelling abroad for a test/oath date. The IRCC does not have any justifications for these delays but it is in their power to do so.

4. My advice is to inquire about the possibility of this being urgent through CIC web form or on the phone. Try to get an official response in relation to your situation.

However, don't take any of the Internet's advice for the absolute truth, even on this forum. You are not for sure going to be delayed just because you apply for urgent processing. It is more luck of the draw as some people have gotten their citizenship in similar cases. In the end, you just have to understand you are taking a considerable risk by applying for urgent processing and make a decision, assessing your own situation.
