My girlfriend gave birth recently and she is a US residence, also holds a citizenship in eastern Asia. As for me, I am born and raised in Canada so i have full citizenship and everything. All this immigration is new to me as I am a young adult and am oblivious to the procedures and requirements I need to possess in order to bring them to Canada which we both decided on doing so. What my questions are is:
-What options does the mother of my child have when it comes to moving to Canada for long term instead of being a visitor and can only stay for six months.
-What would I have to do on my part in order to bring both my child and girlfriend to live with me in Canada.
-Does my child have both US and Canadian Citizenship?
-And if there is anything else I would need to know.
I am aware of the option of marrying. but I believe that it would require us to be a common law for a year in order to get her citizenship in Canada. But if she goes to Canada as a visitor she can only stay there for six months with an addition to three months to change status. So would that mean she would have to find a place to work to gain a work permit? Or is there another option.
Any suggestion will help.
