Hi,

I applied for Express Entry on 2nd week of October 2017 and received my PPR on 3rd week of December. I am getting married on last week on Feb 2018.

I am not sure, what I should do now to get my spouse here the earliest. My spouse is living in India and she does'nt have Visitor VISA or any other VISA for Canada. If I get my PR and then apply for my spouse PR, it could take 12 months or more. I do not really want to go with this option.

Also I will not be able to change my marriage dates. Can anyone please tell me suggestions for quickest way to get my wife here and what to do with my Passport Request ?

And in the PPR email, it was mentioned to inform them about marriage. So, if I inform them, what are they going to tell me ?

Your time for replying this message will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

You can add your spouse to your application once you get married as long as you do not complete the landing process.

So even if you get your COPR after sending your passport to your visa office you can still add your future spouse once you get married.

Thank you for the reply. If I add my spouse, do you know how long it could take for the processing to complete ? Usual Express Entry processing time ? or it will be faster because my processing is already completed?

And also in the mean time when the application is in progress, can I bring my spouse to Canada by Visitor VISA or some other VISA ?

FYI - I am in Canada and my spouse is in India.

Thanks.

Spouse processing may take 2-4 months but in some instances it may take more than that.

If your future spouse got the visa(Either Visitor or Work), the person can come to Canada.

Can you please answer the following questions,

1. If my spouse applies for her Visitor VISA now, can you she come along with me to Canada after marriage without any issues (NOTE: She would be added after marriage which means, when she is coming with me, her PR application will be in progress)?

2. And while applying for her Visitor VISA, is it okay to mention that she is getting married to a permanent resident ?

3. I can only add her in the PR application after the marriage is completed right ? (Ignore if this sounds dumb. Just wondering if she can be added anticipating the marriage)

1. No issues.
2. There is no such question in Visitor Visa application. You are not a permanent resident until you do landing, which means she is marrying a person who is in Canada on Work Permit/Not a PR holder.
3. Yes, only after the marriage and if you haven't done landing.

Thank you so much. Okay, so now, I am getting married on Feb last week and will be coming back to Canada on March 1st week. So, it is better to add my spouse in my application when I am in India itself ?

Also while applying for spouse visitor visa ? can we state the real reason for her visitor visa ?

And also is it okay to send my passport now to Ottawa or just email CIC and wait for what they say ?

As I understand, IRCC doesn't count expected event.
1. It doesn't matter from where you did submission.
You have to inform IRCC after marriage (They take 1-5 days to respond). So by the time you submit her documents most probably you will be in Canada (Make sure you have status in Canada while making the return trip). There is not much timeline between the marriage date and return travel date.
2. real reason means??
3. Send the passport to Ottawa and get the stamp. Just in case if you decided to go with different plan (Spouse got Visitor visa and can apply for Inland spouse sponsorship application and Work Permit at the same time).

1. Real reason means can she say that she wants visitor visa just to come along with her spouse ?
2. If I get the passport stamped, and then go, get married, and then come back to land in Canada. Then my marital status would have changed, which means that I should report to IRCC and my PR will be cancelled right ? Because of marital status change before I land as immigrant.
3. If I get my passport stamped, I think IRCC will cancel my work permit (From what I heard from my friends), and also if I get married before I land to become landed immigrant, my PR status will be cancelled because of marital status change and then I could be in-admissible into Canada. Is'nt this true? Correct me if I am wrong.

1. Visitor visa is intended that the person is coming to Canada for temporary stay. Approval chances are slim, if you mention she would like to stay with you after marriage.
2. Yes. If you get passport stamped --> your CoPR becomes invalid after marriage --> Have to inform IRCC about change in martial status change.
3. Work Permit get cancelled while landing only, not while stamping PR Visa. Make sure you have Work Permit Visa stamping (If you are from Visa required country) while returning after marriage.

1. I meant Work Permit Visa. I have a work permit visa right now. But if I get my passport stamped, then my work permit visa will not be cancelled ? If it is cancelled and then go to India, and come back with marital status change, then my CoPR also become invalid. I might not allowed, because I do not have any visa to come into Canada right? So is'nt it better not to get passport stamped now, and then add my spouse after marriage?
