Getting Married in Canada

Hi!
I am an American who has been in a long distance relationship with a Canadian man for the past year. I am planning to go to Canada at the end of October, and we are going to get married the beginning of December and then begin applying for the spouse sponsored permanent residency.

One question I have is what to say to immigration when they ask for the reason for my visit upon arriving in Canada. Should I say I'm visiting my fiance? Should I say I'm going to get married? Will that inhibit my entry?

I was also wondering what paperwork I should be getting in order now before I apply!

Thanks!

Congrats! I'm looking at doing the same, so we're in a similar boat. I have been divorced in the states so we have to get a bunch of paperwork together with our marriage license application and wait 3-4 weeks to get a divorced authorization (basically Ontario claiming they recognize my divorce and verify I'm free to get married again). But once that goes through, him and I are hoping to get married in October and start the sponsorship process immediately as well. Are you planning to remain there as a visitor and apply for a visitor extension while waiting for PR status? I'm just curious. I'm going to keep my eyes on any helpful information you're provided as I'm working on the same thing.
