Getting Indian PCC when you get an “Adverse” Police Verification Report (PVR) due to short stay (less than a year) in the present address
I have my permanent address in passport and I have been living in my present address (rental) for the last three months. Prior to that, I was residing in the same colony in another apartment. When I applied for PCC (in mid Dec), the Granting Officer (GO), granted my PCC on Pre-Verification basis. In a couple of days a policeman came and the verification was done.
12 days later, I got a message from the PSK that police gave an “Adverse” report for the current address. When I checked online status it was showing “Police Verification Report was not clear and the application is under review at Regional Passport Office”. Then I called the policeman who came for the verification and confirmed that he gave a “Clear” report after checking his records.
I visited the Regional Passport Office (RPO) (not the PSK where I applied for PCC) on the fourth day from that message and met Assistant Passport Officer (APO). He told that the hard copy of PVR has not reached them yet and asked me to visit after 10 days. He also asked how long I have been staying in the current address for which I said 3 months. Then he suggested to write a letter mentioning my last one year addresses and attach its proofs. It was only one address for me.
After a week, I went again with my old address proof and a letter, as suggested, to the RPO. An officer checked the proofs and cleared it in their system (may initiate another police check if the address is not falling under the same police station – I am not sure about this). Then I had to meet a GO and I got my PCC.
So in case you plan to visit, give it 10 days from that “Adverse” report message. Please subscribe to SMS services when your passport and present addresses are different. Hope this helps someone
