Final update:

The Canadian lawyer in Shanghai got all my documents translated in 1 day with an affidavit. Also, much cheaper than the Chinese notary public office. Just for a quick comparison, I had the Chinese notary public translate / notarize 1 document. It cost ~450 RMB and they're still not done 1 week later. The lawyer cost 4000RMB for 17 documents translated and notarized, plus 5-6 other documents just notarized, and they got in done in 1 day!

I strongly suggest everyone applying for PR from Shanghai go my route. The lawyers' contact info is on the Canadian Consulate in Shanghai's website.

I'm not in Shanghai, but do you think I can use that route?

Also, I didn't find the contact info on the website...
