Hi, I just want to ask if I can renew my original country passport after getting PR in Canada. My refugee case was accepted and PR cards have arrived. Originally I submitted my passport to IRCC office in Toronto at the time of Refugee claim back in 2018. I have no intent to travel to my home country but needs to travel to other countries for work and Vacations. RTD is not the same as Canadian or any other Passport and there are so many issues and problems travelling to any country because it is a refugee passport. No one gets the same treatment as a citizen of any other country. So many delays, so many questions, so much discrimination. Can some one advise please?
Secondly if I renew the passport of my home country inside of Canada, Would I be subject to Re-availement? technically I never surrendered my home country citizenship!

If u got your pr through refugee process then you have no other option you have to stay with RTD if you will renew your passport you putting your P R status in danger according to experts here .

You can't use your old passport to travel and can't renew your home country oassport without risking tour status in Canada. You need to apply for an RTD not your home country passpirt. When you get prorection from Canada there are some potential inconveniences like not being able to travel to some countries or veibg questioned at some POEs. It is a small trade off given that you were given status in Canada.

Is it the expert opinion or the Law?

Applying for your home country passport falls under reavailment. If you apply for your home country you are at risk of losing your status in Canada. If you use your home country passport to travel that is even worse. RTD was created because r
protected people can't use their home country passport.

You need to write a letter to IRCC. My friends got their old passports back. They have no problem giving it to you, just don't go back to your home country.

I have my passport and got it back from IRCC but it is expired now, I already travelled on this passport after PR but I want to renew it from my High commission in Toronto.
