Get passport back in person from NYC consulate

Hi!!
I went to the consulate today and came back with my passport and visa stamped on it.
But it took me the hole day!
If you go there, be prepared to wait and take all documents u think u may need to present!

I have the same question. What documents did you have to take? What did you say to enter the Consulate? Who did you request to speak with? How long did it take - when did you get there?

Timeline:
7.16 they received the package (with prepaid return envelope) (transit visa only)
7.23 I started panic after reading the posts here, wrote emails to withdraw application
8.1 my passport is back, without visa.
no communication at all, i kept sending them 3 emails a day for a whole week. I still feel lucky 8) at least they didn't lose my passport... and i saved a trip to NY (from boston)
but will avoid traveling to canada in the future.

We really need your help in knowing how you managed to get the visa from the Canada consulate. I already sent my application through mail I was hoping to get the passport back by now. So, I am planning to go there to collect my documents back. But I have a few questions before that:

Were copies of the original document enough to get into the consulate?

How did you get your application back once you were there? Had they already processed it and they just gave it to you instead of sending it by post OR did you actually get it processed after going there?

Did you have an appointment scheduled with them before you went there? If so, how did you get one?

Please respond. Your response will be very helpful.

I mailed them my passport on July 2nd and they receiived it on the 3rd. I started emailing them on August 1st because I am planning to travel this Sunday. They have not been responding so I just went there in person this morning, the receptionist had me filled an accelerated process form, and told me to come back a 2.30.
I will go back there and see.
The receptionnist told me that if I have done it in person it would have taken literraly 2-3days. Thta's so annoying!!!

IT WORKED!

I went there in person at around 11.00 pm, they asked me to come back at 2.30, I went in, they called my name and gave me the stamped passport. That was actually really easy. If you can do it in person, I highly recommend to.

I sent mine July 12, the embassy received it on the 13th. I'm applying for work permit. Are you applying for TRV or TWP?

It's better to apply in person for TRV, you don't have to wait 30 days or longer. Hopefully you'll get your PP back soon

There are guys from the other thread who went to NYC brought the copies of their docs & passport. If you plan to go personally in CHC-NYC you should be there as early as 8:00 a.m & if your lucky you can get it in the afternoon.
