Hello,

after the refuse of our conjugal application, me and my partner have decided to get marry.
I would like to ask some information to couples that get marry in Toronto (civil marriage).

My partner has called the local office and they told her that to get marry are necessary only two personal IDs (such as passport and/or another document with english details)...that's all?
No other documents are necessary?
Someone can share their experiences with the forum?

I also read that for the marriage certificate (to attach to the spouse application) are necessary about 4-5 weeks, is it not possible to attach to the spouse application a temporary certificate released the same day of the marriage?

Another question, in my country (Italy) there are laws about the division of personal assets. In fact, the day of the marriage the couple can decide to share (or not) the personal assets with the partner, I know that in Canada there is not this possibility and laws.
My doubt is: When the marriage certificate will be communicated to my embassy/consulate, which type of choose will be applied?
The day of the marriage, may I attach a declaration of my choose that it will be send with the certificate of marriage to my embassy/consulate?

Thanks in advance for the responses.
Best regards.
Alberto.

Hi i would like to share where i And my husband got married in toronto. You can visit their website for information. http://marryus.org before you get married you need a marriage license
This are some information how to get it

Visit a Registry Services office
One or both of you must visit a Registry Services office to get your licence. For the marriage licence to be issued the same day, you must have the completed and signed application form.

Two pieces of original identification (as described above) that shows your current legal name must be presented for each person together with the applicable fee.

Marriage licences are issued Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. at:

City Hall
Etobicoke Civic Centre
North York Civic Centre
Scarborough Civic Centre
Limited services: York and East York Civic Centres have application forms and information only – you cannot get a licence at these locations.

Locations and directions
Licence fees
The licence fee in the City of Toronto is $140. This fee can be paid by cash, money order, certified cheque, VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Debit Card. The City will not refund the fee once a licence has been issued.

Validity/expiry date
A marriage licence is valid only in Ontario for three months from the date of issue. If the marriage licence is not used in a wedding ceremony within this time period, it expires.

If you plan to marry in a jurisdiction outside of Ontario, please contact the authority for that region.

Registration of the Marriage
The Province of Ontario registers marriages that occur in Ontario. After your ceremony, it is the responsibility of your wedding officiant to file the necessary paperwork with the Province. For marriages occurring outside of Ontario, the jurisdiction of that Province/State/Country responsible for the registration of these events is required to register the marriage. Marriages performed outside of Ontario are not registered with the City of Toronto, or the Province of Ontario.

Contact information

Contact Registry Services at: registryservices@toronto.ca or 416-392-7036

Service Ontario website (for licence application)

You need marrige certificate to include to your application and you will got it 6-8 weeks if im not mistaken after your ceremony in toronto civic chamber.
