hi guys

I am a German nurse and i have 2 year experience in Emergency Room and ICU.I havent applied to college of nurses yet since i have no PR or Visa.I am though RN in Germany and i really dont know if i would be accepted as a RN in Canada.I want to know if i could apply to college of nurses before getting my PR?oh In Germany when we get finished with the nursing education so we get a certificate not a degree or diploma so is the certificate acceptable for the nursing college?Do i possibily have to upgrade my level ?Can I apply for temperory licence?
I have read in this forum that its more quicker to have an answer from nursing college if someone applies as RPN rather than RN?Please share your experiences with me thanks ;)

There are bridge training programs for registered nurses which would might be good for someone like you. Its helps internationally educated nurses get what they need so they can practise as a registered nurse in Ontario.

check this link:

You can apply for PR directly without having done a bridging program. This is if you apply under the skilled worker program as an LPN (RN Cap is full) or wait until July 1st for the Caps to reset hoping RN's will still be on the list. Once you get your PR, you can look into getting licensed by doing a bridging program (college fees are lower for PR's) or by seeing what you must do to get through the exams by yourself. Another option is to get licensed as an LPN and work as an LPN while you look into the licensing for RN.

Until you get your PR, you would need some status in Canada to enrol in college. You can apply for a student visa but be aware that the college fees can be 3 times higher if you are not PR already. Ask the college about this. You can talk to the licencing boards and see if you get educate yourself about the exams. An LPN is a licensed practical nurse. Less education, less money but easier to get licensed.

If you go to http://www.cicic.ca/403/occupational-profiles-for-selected-trades-and-professions.canada?crit=1&sprofession=nurse&sRegulated=&sSkillLevel= you can see links for Practical nurses and registered nurses. If you click on them, you can find some information about the exams.
