If you would be coming back to Canada by feb 2016, why would you want to waste money and time to come to Canada in November? Also, when you activate your PR status in November, you would need a PR card or get a PRTD in order to reenter Canada when you come back in Feb 2016. I've seen recently many posters in this forum said their PR card has not arrive as long as 5 months since their landing. Why would you want to face these hassles?

Agree here with steaky, you have until the last day feb 2016 to become a PR. If you could wrap things up
and come to Canada for good by Feb 2016, u should definitely do that and avoid the 'short landing'.

Anyway, if u decide to make a short visit before you make the final move, u need to give a Canadian
address, friends/ relatives who would then mail you the cards when they eventually arrive. You will
need the PR card (remember you are a Resident, the moment u make the first landing) or a PRTD
for further entries into Canada

PRTD = Permanent resident Travel Document.
Processing time is real fast, NewDelhi office processed one for our daughter within
1/2 business days.
You need it if you don't have the PR card with you or it is expired and you are still in
good standing with respect to residency obligations.
Hope this helps

Soon !
Your COPR is good for landing till it expires.
Afterwards, for reentry you will need one of the following:
PR card
Or PRTD (if you haven't received the PR and are out of Canada)
Or eTA (after 15 Mar 2016) only US nationals are exempt.

Hi All,

I landed as PR in March 2016. However, that was a short landing (COPR expiring in April 2016) as for organizational project commitments, I cannot completely relocate before May end.

While filling in the form for PRTD, should I add the reasoning under "Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds" section? Or no explanation is needed?

Someone with short landing experience please help!!

Thanks.
