Hi all

This is my first post at the forum since i am just starting to explore the option of studying in Canada.

I am 27 BE in IT with MBA in Marketing with 4 years of experience.

I want to know about the following:

1) considering the fact that i have already done my masters can i get a Visa for a Post graduate certificate (i want to go for this coz of some financial crunch)

2) according to my research on the forum if i study for 8 months(2 semesters) i get 1 year to work after that. Is this true?

3) I am planning to take up Project Management since it relates to my current experience(Enterprise Account management), is it hard to find jobs related to Project Management?

4) I am currently exploring Humber Institute of Technology and Centennial college, are these good for project management ?What are the job prospects?

5) I want to start in May so should i start my application process now or in january or february ?

Thanks
Megha

1) yes, getting a visa for PG ,after ur masters will be tough..it should be a logical progression..
2) i think for 8 months course..u will get 8 months work permit
4) Humber n Centennial are good colleges..mainly Humber is famous for Management
5) In Jan, all colleges might be busy with the new intakes

1) I have read on the forum itself some masters students have got their visas, do u think i can take a chance?
2) is 2 semester not considered 1 academic year, will i get only 8 months and what if i am not able to get a desired job during that period, what options do i have then?
4) i am in for humber or centennial, lets c.
5) so should i apply in feb,2014.

with these qualifications and exp, why don't you try for PR directly? It is less expensive than studying, unless you are keen on getting Canadian education.

Getting a visa for a PG course is almost impossible unless you are extremely lucky. Better try for masters.

hi

i have a similar profile to urs, even i am an Engineer with a MBA degree and joining Project Management at Humber, Jan2014. I made my application under general.

so i think if the course really makes sense u should go ahead and apply, make sure to include a SOP.

Best of luck.

it is not advisable to go for PG diploma after masters and its not just for visa purpose although visa is one of the reasons.
there is a difference between college education and university education. U should not expect to get a job with ur MBA after completing PG diploma . U most likely wont get the same level job as a masters either. College education is more hands on. job pool is different for masters as compared to diploma.

ur going for education so ur academic profile matters more than ur work profile so ur course should be related to ur academic profile.( u may find lot of people who r luck and get visa but question is why take the risk)

5) I want to start in May so should i start my application process now or in january or february ?
u should start application process as soon as possible for may intake

Hello Mead

i really appreciate your reply, so though people with masters have got a Visa for diploma courses do u suggest I should go for a diploma course from a college since as it is my current job is into sales which I don't really like, Please let me know if a course such as project mgmt will add any value, i am okay to start over again even at a junior role in Canada.

Thank you.
