Hello readers!
First, a little background info:
We met on an online video game (Life's odd sometimes) in 2005, fell in love with each other and became an official couple in late 2006. Since then, she's come down for several short visits (I live in the states), and i was recently able to go up and stay with her for 2 months before coming back for work and college, but not before eloping =) . We are both early 20's (I'm 22, she's 20) and i plan to move up to BC and spend the rest of my life with her as soon as possible. Therefor, we are going to start filling out everything needed so she can sponsor me (She's Canadian born and raised) and this cruel distance will be forever gone.

So, basically i came upon this forum and decided it would be really good for us if we could get some general advice, tips, or experiences from people who are, or have been, in a similar situation, along with perhaps helping others with similar questions or wanting advice. Personally, i'm pretty nervous about filling everything out and sending the application just to have it returned from lack of information/proof or something i might have not done or filled out correctly, thereby wasting precious time. Our overall goal is to be together again, and for good, as soon as possible.

Anything you might suggest, or share with us is very much appreciated and welcomed.

PS: I'm dreading the medical examination.... (Injection Phobia) >.<

Welcome to the site... well i am in a similar situation... I met my husband online and we are also pretty young... I am 24 and he is 23.... we have been together since 2007.... but married in 2010...

Keep all phone records, chat logs, emails, cards that you guys gave to each other, any trips that you guys have been together, plane tickets, receipts from hotels... western union transactions if you guys help each other out financially... Just anything that shows that you guys communiticate as often as you say.... In my application I made sure to always back up everything I said so if i said i meet his family i would say please refer to exhibit 5 to see photos.... Or even engagement, honeymoon, and all... We also had a lawyer to help us file the papers correctly as english is not my first language and I was afraid to make mistakes plus the paperwork for me I found was a little complicated... for the applicant i thought its much easier.... there is consultants and lawyers to help out... when filling out your paper work you can also ask on the forum if you have questions and I am sure that you will get great answers...

Believe in yourself lol I'm sure you will do ok but I'm telling you it's lots of work to organize everything... I am talking hours and hours lol I made 2 books that I attached with the spiral with everything in there and I had the table of content which made it really easy to zoom through each sections.... lol

I am not sure of what exactly is your question lol maybe a more specific question could help me explain better lol

Are you planning on applying for permenant residence from inside or outside of Canada? Outland seems to be the fastest if you apply through Buffalo, and you can still visit her in Canada and even extend your stay past the 6 months if you wish to. I wish someone had told me this before I applied inland, and have quite a bit of wait ahead of me.

Thank you so much for your insight =D
The idea of the ringed book with table of content is brilliant, i'll definitely do something like that. As for proof, wow, we got loads and loads and loads of it, and i actually just thought of how long its going to take for us to get it all organized when u mentioned it... I am going to need a lot of coffee.
As for a specific question, i dont really have any as of yet. Everything "Seems" to be straight forward in the way the website explains it, but there's always more than meets the eye in this kind of stuff, and sometimes, that comes back to bite you in the ass. So i was just asking for tips, advice and anything relevant for the sake of beefing up my knowledge on the subject and process. Your post was exactly what i had in mind, hopefully more like that will follow from you or other users =)

I'm going to apply from outside of Canada. The main reason, other than it being faster, was that i'd still be able to work and go to school while they process our case. I really like that bit of information about extending the visa if needed, but i doubt i'll be able to do that as i need to work more and save money for the eventual moving to Canada.

I must admit the idea was not mine lol the lawyers thats why i went to go see him.. I didnt have a clue on how to do it... organizing takes so long... I provided phone bills from my house phone and cell from 2007 up to when i filled just that on its own was a huge pile of paper lol.... but yea for emails and all i didnt take too many just printed one here and there and i was very selective as to what i was sending... I didnt want to send anything too revealing either lol... if you know what i mean hehehehehehehehe ;D but just a few emails i send mostly some that talked about how we missed each other and how we felt about each other... let me know if you more questions... you can also send me private messages if you prefer... good luck with the whole process :D
