Hi Everyone,

I am Inland applicant, My Application for Permanent Residence (AOR) was submitted in November 2023. I received an pre-arrival services email and medical passed in May 2024, but since then, there has been no further update. After ordering my GCMS notes, I learned that my file is undergoing a comprehensive security screening due to my previous employment at an airport in India. Based on the officer’s notes, it appears that my file was forwarded to CBSA in mid-May 2024.

There is also a due date mentioned in the GCMS notes under Security as January 10, 2025. I'm not sure if this date is set for CBSA to complete the comprehensive check or if it has another purpose. If anyone has insight into what this due date might indicate, or if recent timelines for similar cases have been maintained, I would greatly appreciate your input.

I have a few questions and would be grateful for any insights:

1. Has anyone had a similar experience with their file being flagged for a comprehensive security check due to airport employment?

2. Aside from GCMS notes, is there any other way to track my file’s progress? I’ve heard about submitting an ATIP request through CBSA or CSIS and would appreciate any details on this process.

3. What kind of checks are typically involved in this security screening? It seems my spouse’s file was also sent for screening due to my employment.

4. I understand processing times can vary, but if anyone has an estimate of the current average timeframe for comprehensive security checks, I would be very interested to know.

Thank you in advance for your time and responses. Any guidance would be a great help, as the wait has been quite anxious and challenging.
I'm with the similar timeline! but no employment at airport, comprehensive checks may take around 9-18 months as far as I have researched. I haven't seen shorter timelines than that. Good luck !

Could anyone please tell me what is meant by eligibility passed in CEC PR application. Thanks in advance
officer has verified everything on your file and you are eligible for the further progression like biometric , medical or adr's . Now your background check will start (as far as i know , others can provide their inputs on this too)

I have passed everything except security check that’s what IRCC agent told me. I have submitted my file on May 11 . What’s exactly is security check? Are they checking documents of employment that we submitted or anything else??

Congratulations! This means that the officer has verified that you are eligible for the program you applied for. Now, all that is left is the completion of the background check (info sharing, criminality and security). You can call IRCC to find out exactly what step they are in!

On eligibility stage, they were just to make sure that all the scores you claimed in the system are legit, or in other words, you are eligible for the program. On security stage, they were to make sure that there are no risks or dangers to national security of Canada, for example, to make sure that we are not spies.

They could potentially, but don’t HAVE TO call any of your employers. So it’s natural that your employers did not got calls.

I didn’t order my GCMSnotes, when I called IRCC they told me . Also, I tried to reach out MP office, so they also forwarded reply from IRCC “
According to IRCC, your case is still processing.

Medical, criminality and eligibility are passed.

Security is still processing.

Security is handled by third parties not even inside IRCC.

There is no timeline for the security check.

Hello everyone,
I need your help. I am currently applying from outside the country, and my application has been stuck in security screening for eight months. My application is under the AIP stream. Today, my employer sent an email to withdraw my job offer. All my stages have been passed (eligibility, medical, and criminality), and only the final decision is pending. My application was submitted in August 2023, and it has been over a year.
Please advise what options I have. I checked the NB portal, and my nomination also expired in July as one year passed due to the long comprehensive screening process. Please guide me.
What steps are required? Since eligibility has already been passed, will the security screening create an issue for me?
What is the timeline for the comprehensive security screening now?

Hey! I have found this law-firm: https://www.holthelaw.com/legal-fees - and their prices:

Mandamus applications:
Letter of Demand - 1000CAD + 5% tax
Filling with the Court - 5000CAD + 5% tax
Consultation 25 minutes - 315CAD + 5% tax

It is in Alberta.

But fees vary.
Two years ago Holthe was charging $3000 CAD for court filing. Apparently business is booming and demand is high
