@Immigration_guru what kind of information does CBSA notes contain? is there a thread explaining CBSA notes like this one? I am AOR Oct with all passed by security still in progress, I know my security started in February but of course everything is hidden in the last two notes regarding security with s.15(1) on top right.

CBSA notes are same like GCMS, but the security related information is retracted in GCMS. CBSA notes have all the security related information + regular GCMS information.

CBSA doesn't have separate notes. They pull GCMS notes too but do not redact *parts of the notes pertaining to them. They still redact their own agency employee names and some dates. Unless you specifically ask them for their communication with other organizations they don't send anything else.

So what they do show is date when they received your file, if it's in progress or not, and if they sent it back to IRCC or not.

It totally depends on what information you ask, some parties just ask for notes with limited information. That is when it is important to understand what is to be demanded by the respective organization, Also if ordering notes to check security it is advisable to order both CBSA and CSIS notes to get a clear idea

Hi, may I ask u If CBSA takes more than 3 months what does it mean?
No specific reason can be guessed. In Security CBSA and CSIS is involved. So the delay can be because of any reason like excessive travel history, stay for 6 months or more in different counties etc.
When CSIS is involved no one can state that what they check.

I don’t have criminal record or military, I have just visited some countries, but I have stayed some days not months, can this affect negatively?
Thanks

No, but even if you have stayed in different cities in on country, time for security might take time.
To check what is going on with your security you can request CBSA notes

No, not every case goes to CBSA. Some cases satisfy the officer based on applicant history (i.e. a British citizen with no military history) barely needs any security check. On the other hand someone from Pakistan needs CBSA, CSIS, and the RCMP mission in Islamabad involved. This is why you see some cases finalize in 1 to 2 years and others in 3-4 years. CBSA wait time is 1 year now.

CBSA ATIP notes make clear if a person has had a history with them and there are cases which were never sent to CBSA.

In fact there are times, when a co-applicant has to he checked by CBSA where applicant doesn't need a check and both are on same application.
So just to clarify: not all applications go to CBSA and/or CSIS? I was under the impression that all PR applications had a security review via CSIS, CBSA and their partners. What does a background check usually include for applicants where CBSA and CSIS aren't involved? Not disputing your knowledge, just genuinely curious.

Most of security practices are not clear and rightly so to make sure their integrity is not compromised but there is an Operational Manuel out there for some of these stuff if you are willing to spend time and read (I don't know the link but you can Google for it).

CBSA has many digital means for research (besides spies) which I am assuming officers of CIC have access as well. For example one of the things that CBSA does is search medical records for duplicates (name change fraud etc) or other clues. They search social media. They probably search corporation registries for organized crimes, and check Interpol registries, etc...

Officers at CIC might do some of the above work themselves or simply decide that OK you were a civilian all your life based on your history of work and education provided so no need for CBSA and that in itself is a security check when you think of it because one's educational background and work experience tells a lot to a trained officer's eyes versus a shady applicant who is trying to hide military experience or traveled to danger zones many times and has gaps in work history...

Anyhow, like I said, not all is clear how this is done and it is rightly not clear. NOT all cases go to CBSA because some don't need to or at least maybe don't get Comprehensive checks from CBSA...CSIC is also secondary and not involved always.

This is mentioned when case processing agent requests case processing officer to review some particular document,
