Dear friends in the forum,

I submitted my study permit application in May 2023, and still waiting for the decision.
My timesline is:
Submission: May 24th, 2023
Biometric confirmed: May 29th, 2023
Upfront Medical passed: May 29th, 2023
Eligibility Passed: June 28th, 2023
Background in progress: June 28th, 2023
IRCC processing office: Beijing, China

It has been four months after the background changed into in progress, and I am pretty sure I am under backgound check.
In another forum I learnt that the most detailed GCMS notes can be retreived from CBSA. I have requested three times through ATIP since late July, but didn't get a reply.
The first two I didn't upload my passport id page, for the third one requested on Sep 15th, I noticed the suggestion from CBSA and did upload the id page.

I see other people who requested GCMS notes usually get it around one month, while my CBSA notes on Sep 15th was not. I then requested another group of GCMS notest from IRCC, CBSA, CSIS on Oct 16th, only from CBSA for the previous requests.
I am wondering if that is possible the background check for me is the record check that only goes to CSIS which doesn't involve CBSA? (Learnt from this website, don't order from them tho, ATIP is free!)
Or is it just taking longer for CBSA to repond, and I should just wait for the ordered notes?

Please kindly share your opinions.

Best,
JJJJJC

Wait for your final decision
All IRCC services are slowing down and impacted
There is no way to expedite

What type of degree are you applying to do? There have been very long processing times especially for Chinese students doing masters or PhD in the sciences due to problems with IP theft and spying in general.

Indeed, I am going for Master of Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering. I do understand that there is tense relationship between nations. There isn't much for me as a single person can do.

I chose this program for the immigration policy of Canada instead of trying to steal something and take it back to China, but I guess they are just taking every Chinese students as policital enemy.

I accept the fact that I am discriminated just because I am Chinese, but I am more interested in what is going on with my background verifciation process. They are not disclosing any information to me even I requested through ATIP.

If tracker says completed, then it's completed. portal will not update anything until PPR.

after completing my eligibility, then they request me medical right? BTW BG is in progress
Usually, yes. They only request medical for candidate who passed eligibility and 95+% means an approval.
But since you are in BG check, the waiting time can be up to 2 years.
