Hello,
I have been offered an Architectural job in Vancouver and I am planning to apply for the Work Permit Visa. I have a valid Indian passport and need the permit as early as possible as the firm requires me to start work latest by November end. My employer has requested for legal assistance to get the LMIA Process done. I would like to go forward with whichever is the fastest process to obtain the Visa considering the waiting time etc. Would applying for a GATS Work permit initially and then working on the LMIA in the meantime be the fastest solution? Can anyone here guide me through this if you've been in a similar situation and let me know the best possible solution please? Thanks in advance

Don't apply under GATS. This is meant for people who only intend to work in Canada for 90 days or less. It's not meant to be used to start working in Canada earlier while waiting for a temporary work permit.

In my opinion, applying under GATS will create issues for your temporary work permit since it will be clear your work assignment was never meant to be limited to 90 days and that intentions were effectively misrepresented to find a way to start working early.

GATS is only the right choice if your work in Canada is going to be 90 days or less within the next 1 year period. Otherwise it's the wrong choice and will create problems for you longer term work permit application.
