gap between graduation and job hunt

If there is a gap of some months between graduation and/or getting a work permit and getting a job - how does that affect your CEC?

Do not leave any gaps. If you were unemployed while waiting for your work permit or looking for a job, say so.

I had about a six month gap from when I graduated and when I started working, as it took me that long to find a job. I noted it in my application that I was searching for work and taking a bit of a break and it wasn't a problem for attaining PR.

Doesn't matter man you can have even longer gap than 6 months. But the thing is you need to mention it precisely when you were unemployed and when you started working because they have to count 1950 hours and leaving gaps while filling your application will also create problems and you will be asked again to fill that form... Actually chances are if there are gaps teh application kit will eb returned to you in just the first step of reviewing for completion. So, make sure follow the trail of your history and be precise.

And it all should be good.

My issue is, I have a gap of 8 months between my total 1.5 years of Job. I started in Nov 2012 and was employed till Aug 2013 as my work permit got over and LMO was rejected . So I applied for my visitor's permit and got married with my Girl in Dec 2013 and applied for dependent work permit. After getting work permit I joined the same company in April 2014 and working here since then.
Hence there is a gap from Sep 2013 to March 2014. How this will affect my PR application as I am planning to apply this month.
Any sort of help is appreciated.

You have no problem at all. All your work experience is within the last 3 years. Just mention you were unemployed during that gap.

My wife went to india in 1st week of Sept and will be back in January. Can i still apply saying her current country of residence is Canada ? or should I wait till she come back ?

Question, did your cash job provide you with any T4's, ROE, etc.? If yes, then mention that in your application. CIC will never ask you to show funds.

You can apply for your spouse with your address in Canada.

As long as your 1 year work experience is before expiry of your permit (I'm guessing PGWP?), you will have no problem. Just state dates if application asks for it.

It took me longer than that to find a job after graduation...

If you have more than one job, state all the start and end of employment dates. CIC needs to calculate if you have enough working days and work hours.
