could be just a rumour.. it is published by 'Canada.com' - an independent news agency.. its not unusual to play such tricks to get publicity to their news website... nothing is certain till anything official comes out... :-\

Well said, Also not just it is posted to catch readers attention, it is just an vague announcement and not amendment to the law.

I completely agree with you Wayne, I don't understand why all of sudden people started posting such rumours without even using their own brains?

Anyways, it totally upto them whether they want to believe this or just consider this news as rumour.

Till the time it doesn't get reflected on CIC website, i won't believe this. I'll wait to see how much this source is authentic or just a spread of rumour !!
please check CIC website...its official and reflecting on CIC website...
hope this helps....

Dear friend.

Post media is not a new website.

It is a news agency working since 1904.

dentist82 - if you don't have something to do, then please stop posting such nonsense which doesn't have any authenticity.

Check CIC website again, and you'll get to know that the new information related to FSW is not yet updated. Since the previous year cap was reached, that's why they've just PHD and offer applications to further processing. I cann't understand why people all of sudden started posting vague information in this forum.

Guys, please understand wait to see the changes on CIC website. It totally depends on CIC by when they want to update everyone on FSW. But we all need to have patience and then react !

Here you go.

Check who can apply

Do you think it is true. It might be the case that as there cap was reached for July 2011, and as of today they are only taking arrangement letter and PHD applications so only these two options are available.
They might update on July 1 by adding NOC in it..

What are your thoughts guys?

Am I eligible?

Complete Federal Skilled Worker applications received by the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) on or after July 1, 2012, will be placed into processing if they meet the criteria in one of the two categories described below.

Important information
Application category

Choose the Category in the table below which corresponds to your situation. This chart describes the two categories available to you.

Category 1

You have an offer of arranged employment in Canada. The employment offer should:

be in writing,
be indeterminate in duration, and
meet the arranged employment described in this guide.
Category 2

You are an international student currently enrolled in a doctoral (PhD) program, delivered by a recognized post-secondary educational institution located in Canada, and:

have completed at least two years towards the completion of your PhD,
are in good academic standing, and
are not a recipient of a Government of Canada award requiring you to return to your home country to apply your knowledge and skills,
OR

you have completed a PhD program from a recognized post-secondary educational institution located in Canada no more than 12 months before your application is received by the Centralized Intake Office (CIO) and:

you have not received a Government of Canada award that requires you to return to your home country to apply your knowledge and skills; or
if you were a recipient of such an award, you have satisfied the terms/conditions of the award.

This is good news for pre Feb. 2008 applicants but a temporary setback for new applicants.

When this topic first came in, the source was listed. People started duplicating the thread instead with the source.

The original source is

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/moritorium-on-skilled-worker-and-investor-applications-t109761.0.html

Now this topic that "game is over" is itself misleading which could have been "New prospective applicants' game may be over for now"

Minister Kenney hasn't announced it yet. All the established media including Montreal Gazette, Vancouver Sun, Windsor Star, Times Colonist, The Province carried the POSTMEDIA (news agency) article yesterday starting around 4PM on Wednesday EDT.

There is enough hint dropped on CIC website (Guide 7000) as an earlier pointed out:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

Only 2 categories are being permitted for FSW starting now:

1. Arranged employment
2. Canada PhD student stream

Minister will make announcement in Calgary today.

How this is good for pre-Feb 2008?

or you mean post Feb 2008?

i think pre 2008 is already scrapped couple of months back ..not sure what backlogs kenney is referring to.

The news agency article mentioned that

"The budget bill also will eliminate about 280,000 visa applications submitted under the Federal Skilled Worker Program before February 2008 by refunding their application fees to the tune of $130 million. The move effectively will reduce the skilled worker backlog to about 110,000.

The government doesn't want to process new applications until it's dealt with the existing backlogs and put in place a "just-in-time" economic immigration system, probably by January. "
