Hi all,

Its after long time i am back here, actually i am busy in the preparation and now every thing is o.k and i will fly in the Ist week of Feb. I have one question about the funds which we need to carry with. Is it mandatory to carry all the funds that you have shown for four family members or it is upon you to manage the things. Because it is no where written that you have to carry that amount of funds with you while immigrating, its there advice that you need this amount of minimum funds to upkeep a family of four or whatever size u have for a minimum period of six months. Many people on this forum is telling that u can carry lesser amount and the proof of the balance amount in ur bank. I don't think there is any requirement like that. Suppose if husband is leaving earlier and the spouse and the children will be accompanying afterwards then how u calculate the amount to be carried with. Seniors please do comment......

Thanx

Dear Duggal,

Good to know that u r flying in Feb 2010. All the best, buddy !

LANDING FUNDS:

1. Whether the PA is landing alone, or with some, or all family members, the POF has to be shown to the IO at the POE, when landing for the 1st time. Subsequent visits will not require that.

2. The Officer at the POE may or may not ask u to show it, but it's a requirement of our 'post landing record check'. So, one must not take a chance. Carry the complete POF as per your family strength, as per CIC requirement/s.

3. Morover, it's not that we require to take it all in 'cash'. One needs to have supporting docs to prove it [like bank statement/s].

4. The ideal sit is to carry some Cash + some TCs + the rest in documented proof [if the amount is large].

5. Remember: If u take a draft, it'll take sometime to encash [usually 30 days]. So, carry some cash for regular expenses.

Hope that helps.

Dear Duggal

See this thread http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/settlement-funds-t32320.0.html

This has an email from CHC and it states that you need not carry the funds but should have proof that you have funds which can be transferred later
