Funds to 0 but still eligible for FSW??

Hi there everyone:

After I filled in my express entry forms I realized I was eligible for both CEC and FSW. I looked up the form requirements of both and it seems like CEC is the much better option for me (I originally planned to apply though CEC before EE came). However, I read online that reducing funds to 0 would make me eligible only for CEC, except I just did that and I still look eligible for both!
Can you help please? If there is a draw tonight, I would want to be considered as a CEC.

I am on PGWP currently working in my field of study with 1+ work exp. I also do not have an LMIA for this job so what else am I supposed to change in my application?

So it seems that you have foreign working experience? I assume you're working in Canada so maybe Canadian working experience will give you enough points so that you don't even need to mention foreign working experience?

I would believe set your fund to 0 would put you in the CEC stream anyway

Are you sure that won't hinder the process? My job IS valid, just not valid for EE as you mentioned.

Search the forum again. You are not the first person to have this doubt. From Jan '15, this has been clarified over and over again. The only 'valid' job as far as EE is concerned is the one which is supported by an LMIA.

Everyone else has to say No to that question. Saying Yes to that question gives you no points at all but will require you to submit 3 employment documents for your current job - a totally useless requirement unless you have an LMIA supported job offer.

They never ask if you have a valid job offer. They only ask if you have a job offer, and THEN they ask if it is supported by LMIA, along with a series of questions designed to determine the type of work permit you have. If they wanted 'yes' only for a VALID job offer, they would not have to ask those follow-up questions.

MY IDEA is that if you are FSW with a job in Canada under an open work permit, you can use your salary to prove you have enough funds to support yourself in Canada, just as someone invited under CEC can. I called CIC long ago to ask, and they said that was true.

BUT no one - including myself- has been brave enough to try to get an FSW application through with zero funds in the bank and just pay stubs, T4, and NoA to show how you intend to support yourself.

SO, to be sure you are on solid ground, say 'no' to job offer (but then document your job and salary in your PR application) and 0 to funds, and only CEC should appear.

Probably because you have an ECA. If you remove it you'll be ineligible for FSW but will lose education points.

Educational Credential Assessment for foreign educational equivalence in Canada. Might not apply in your case.

You must be scoring at least 67/100 on FSWP grid. Till you fall below that benchmark, you'll receive an ITA under that category. It might even be impossible to score below that benchmark which is why you continue to be eligible for FSW. Or give the system 24 hours to update your profile after making these changes.

There was also one person on here who mistakenly got an invitation for FSW when s/he was only eligible for CEC. CIC withdrew the ITA, and then immediately sent a CEC one.

Yeah, I agree with you. In plain English, I think I have a valid job offer, although, you are correct; they only ask for a job offer not 'valid' job offer.

Either way, now it shows as CEC which is what I want. So much simpler!

In my opinion. You can only answer YES to job offer question if you do not have a work permit for that offer. If you have a work permit and are already working on that job then you must answer NO. I think that question is mainly for people who are not in Canada and thus it makes them qualify for FSW.
