Dear friends,

"The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program is currently assessing your application and require additional information".

We applied for OINP in Oct 2015. After AOR now we received this email 2 days back from OINP asking for proof of funds.Unfortunately we made a home purchase in March 2016, after which we are left with nothing in our account. The money can be arranged as a gift from my brother in law or family friend. I just need to know what would be the right thing to do?
To put the required amount of $18617 (3 ppl) in my account and show them the 6 months statement.

we only have 15 days from now to give them these documents.

please help

The money does not necessarily need to have been in your account for 6 months, as long as you can prove that it came from a legitimate source.

So having the money given to you as a gift is fine. In this case, your brother-in-law would need to provide a notarised affidavit stating that the money was a gift, and that you are not required to pay the money back to him at any point in the future.
