Full-time student, sponsoring my mother-in-law

Hello everyone,

My husband and I would like to sponsor his mother to visit us here in Canada. She's planning to stay here only for a month. My husband works full-time but I'm a full-time student. We have a 3-year old son. My mother-in-law would like to be here on his birthday (that will be her reason for visiting Canada).

My question is, can we still sponsor her to come here even if it's only my husband who works? Or maybe, he could sign the invitation letter without me?

Thanks in advance:)

It's not "sponsorship" you would be offering. That only applies to immigration.

Yes, both you and your husband should sign the letter.

Even if I'm only a student? Wouldn't that affect her application for TRV?

Thanks for the reply:)

So it doesn't matter if I'm a student, I can still sign the invitation? As long as my mother-in-law has sufficient funds?

Sorry, I misread your post.

It doesn't matter if you sign the invitation or not. You can do it either way and it won't make a difference.
