Hello Dear Friends,

This is Mas from Japan, many thanks in advance first. I have got my IELTS test score, and it is CLB 9.

Currently I am working as a postdoc fellow in a Japanese National Laboratory for 2 years. I got my Ph.D. in USA, and when I was a Ph.D. student, I was a full-time TA or RA for five years. Like Canada and USA, the Laboratory in Japan paid us as a monthly stipend. Actually, my research area should fit NOC 2131 (civil engineer), but I did some research and I found that a postdoc fellow (NOC 4011) should be a better fit for me.

As it has been discussed, postdoc fellow is not a permanent position, and it seems that monthly stipend is not acknowledged by CIC if I choose NOC 2131 as a civil engineer. So when I submit my application, I should fill my NOC as NOC 4011 (postdoc fellow), right? Any recommendation or suggestion will be appreciated.

Many thanks here.

Hi Mas,
I appreciate it if you reply to my enquiry. Did you pass with 4011 and word ‘stipend’? I am applying with 4012 and my boss has mentioned ‘stipend’ instead of salary. I want to make sure that it will be okay. Thanks
