Full time job with a co-op work permit

Hi, was wondering if I could take up a full-time permanent position (instead of a co-op job) with a co-op work permit, and then transfer to a PGWP? I'm currently a student with a co-op work permit and intend to apply for a PGWP once my program ends.

As long as your job is related to your program and part of your studies, you can work full-time on the co-op work permit. If not, no.

If your coop work permit lists your employer as your university (as they oversee the coop) then an employer for a fulltime job may have a problem with it as it maybe a closed work permit. You should check with your university. Coop work permits may have an expiry date. Employers have to agree to keep you employed while you shift from coop work permit to maintained status to PGWP approved.

Is this by using the new measure that allows international students to work more than 20 hours off campus?

If someone is eligible for this new measure, I think they can take up a full time job.
