Its always related to money !! I faced similar problem at Chennai.

So my advice is , go to the police station under whose jurisdiction your house comes. Find out who is in charge of PP verification etc ( they usually have a 1 or 2 member team dedicated for the crime records buearu in every polce station ) . PLEAD with him, asking for HELP and tell its urgent and you are ready to fuilfil formalities.
It might cost u about 500 bucks.
My advise to those seeking PCC in India is to approach the Commisioner of Police office ( or the highest police authority in your town ) and apply with them directly. It costs more, but you get it promptly !
For eg, Chennai passport office charges about 400Rs for each PCC. But they take a month !
COP in Chennai, charge 1000rs ( they give a receipt, published charges), and you get it in 4 working days !
Well Maran,

As you said it, it might be easier and quicker to get the PCC from the Police Commissioner. But is your Passport stamped with the police clearance? We too applied in Bangalore thru PAssport Seva kendra and finally got it after a month's time from the Koramangala PP office only. But our PP is stamped and we got the PCC copies too - 2copies each for me and my spouse. IF this is the same in your case too then it's fine. Otherwise you may have to enquire about the validity of the PCC acquired from the CP office.

What I was told and heard and read too in the internet is that the PCC given by the CP office is generally for the Foreigners. And that is not valid for the Immigration purposes of Indian to some other country. For Indians to immigrate to other countries they need to apply thru passport office only and the PCC should be collected from there itself, I was told. I thought it made sense too.

May be others too can add something about it...

All Members,

Anybody who is taking PCC from Bangalore and who is not having address of Bangalore on Passport. ??

I have Jalandhar address on my passport and i applied PCC from Bangalore through Passport Seva Kendera. I applied on 6th Dec 2010 , BUt till now even after 16 days my local police has not received it from Commisioner's office.

When I am going at commisioner office they are saying they have sent it. When i go to Local police station they are saying they didn't received it.

Both parties say me to check other place when i go to them..

It seems they are making fool of me. Any idea how to get it done. Is it something related to Money ...

Has anybody else faced this problem ??? And how you resolved it ??

Please Please help me on this.
Hi Sumit,

We applied for PCC in PSK, Bangalore (Marthahalli). While the local police station people followed it up and completed the check in the 2nd week itself (after paying 600 bucks for two) after that it has been an unending ordeal for us. WE tried different ways and means including thru some known contacts in teh commissioner's office but to no avail. Everyone reported that they have completed and sent the doc to the concerned dept. While we are originally from Hyd, the local police station here said they sent it the same day as the police check to the CP office. When checked with the CP office they confirmed that they sent it to the Hyd jurisdiction. When checked thru our uncle in the CP office of Hyd they said nothing came to them. Like this we have been following up from pillar to post almost everyone concerned.

At last when the deadline was nearing we thought enough is enough and went to the Passport Office, Koramangala. But the office is closed as the tokens should be taken before 11 am daily. But luckily they opened the counter again and we got the token and went in. Saw one counter relatively vacant so instead of waiting for our turn (our token was 260 something and the current one was 87) we went straight to that counter and enquired that guy about our status. Surprisingly, as we thought it would be the case, our case has come to them long back, all cleared. He wrote it on the PCC receipt and were directed to the concerned PP officers' room in the 1st floor. Our ordeal of waiting started again and after lot of waiting we again thought enough is enough and contacted one lady who was frequently moving in and out of the PP officers room. She helped us and took us to the PP officer directly and then we got the PCC by about 4 pm on the same day.

This is a big pain in the *** for everyone that originally belonged to a diff place than they reside. WE were told on the day we applied in the PSK itself that if only our passport is from Bangalore we would have got the PCC the same day as applied.

Well, all these ordeals will culminate in the PR hence the dream of achieving the PR makes us forget all the pain we go thru in the meanwhile.

In your case Sumit, what Maran suggested makes sense. Go and catch hold of someone that is responsible for the Police clearnace (first in the local police station and then in the CP office). If it is confirmed that they are done with all formalities, please follow up with the local police station of your original place of residence (or place where the pp is issued). And once that is also confirmed, please approach the PP office as they sit on the cases that are cleared too. This should help. Ask them, without any shame, about the bribe and pay it off. Do not hesitate for such small amounts as we are investing bigger amounts, time, patience, mental agony etc. You should be able to get it with constant follow up.

Good Luck!!!

Hi, The office of Commissioner of Police, Chennai ( Egmore, where I went ), gives out PCC forms specifically for VISA and IMMIGRATION purpose for Indian Nationals. It is printed so as on the forms ! They say one week, but usually is ready in 4 working days !

Please refer to this link

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp

It clearly says, get it from Police Dept , it also says you CAN ALSO g get it from Passport Office.

For convenicne and cost , people get from Passport Office, this has become a norm.
And thats how it spreads that you have to get from passport office only ! lol.

I am sorry about the ordeal you faced in procuring yours. Passport Office gets very messy to deal with. Hence I reccomend Police Authority for PCC as , you eliminate one govt dept frm process !!

Canada’s Jason Kenney on immigration priorities for 2011

Posted on December 21, 2010 by oe_admin
Jason Kenney, Canada’s minister of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism, was interviewed recently by the online magazine Canadian Immigrant to discuss the federal government’s immigration and settlement policy priorities for 2011. Here are some highlights of the interview.

MINISTER KENNEY ON HIS TOP PRIORITIES FOR 2011

CI: What are Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s top priorities for the new year?

JK: Our top priority is continuing to improve economic results for immigrants in Canada. That really is the focus of most of what we do. A second priority is to continue to improve the integrity of our immigration system, which includes a crackdown on human smuggling, fraudulent marriages and crooked consultants.

MINISTER KENNEY ON THE INVESTOR PROGRAM

CI: What is the rationale behind doubling the required investment for the immigrant investor program? Won’t this affect Canada’s competitiveness in relation to other countries’ immigrant investor programs?

JK: The main reason we doubled the required investment (to $800,000) and asset level (to $1,600,000) was because Canada was massively underselling itself compared to its competitors in this immigration product. The United States and Australia both essentially have million-dollar price points. The United Kingdom has a price point of a million pound sterling. We were offering people the lowest price point at $400,000 for the best advantage, which is immediate permanent residency in Canada, which is also a track to the easiest citizenship process in the developed world … Many people in China, in Hong Kong and India have said to me that the price point is still too low.

They’ve said that it’s so easy for modestly wealthy people in Asia and the Middle East to qualify for the program and that we won’t see any reduction in demand for the Canadian program. It may reduce, very marginally, the demand, but the demand is still excessive in terms of our ability to process applications.

MINISTER KENNEY ON THE ECONOMIC PROGRESS OF NEWCOMERS

JK: I can tell you that we recently released a new study that assesses the economic progress of immigrants selected under the current points grid that was adopted in 2002 … It indicates that there has been a huge improvement of employment and income for skilled workers.

The new study indicates that within three years newly selected federal skilled workers are generating, on average, $80,000 in household income, which is very strong. We also have launched consultations on further changes to the points grid for the skilled worker program, which we hope will further improve economic outcomes for newcomers.

Also, since 2006, our government tripled the federal investment in settlement and integration services to help people improve their language proficiency and their job search skills. All of the data indicates that the number one barrier to employment for foreign-trained professionals is language proficiency and that’s why we put such a heavy emphasis on it. We are trying to find more and better ways to get newcomers, who need to upgrade their language skills, to enrol in free [language] programs.

MINISTER KENNEY ON FOREIGN CREDENTIAL RECOGNITION

CI: Are there any new developments with regards to foreign credential recognition?

JK: We have been doing a lot of work with the provinces and the more than 400 professional licensing bodies to streamline and simplify the process of credential recognition for foreign-trained professionals. A year ago, we launched the Canadian Framework for Foreign Credential Recognition, which was based on an agreement between the 10 premiers and Prime Minister Harper.

We have identified, in the first year, nine professional categories where we aim to hammer out a streamlined faster simplified process [for credential recognition]. We’ve put in $50 million into funding that hard technical work between the provincial licensing bodies. We are making huge progress on it and we will meet our objective of giving applicants an answer within a year of their application for those nine professional categories … So progress is being made.

I know it will never be satisfactory for a foreign-trained professional who shows up and hopes to be working as a licensed practitioner immediately. That’s not realistic. It does take time. We can’t guarantee people that their foreign credentials will be recognized in Canada. But we should guarantee them a reasonably simple and efficient process and that’s where we are making progress with the provinces.
