Hi folks,

I was just checking orkut thread "Immigration to Canada" and came to know one april applicant (full docs to New Delhi 15th April and 2nd aor 20th april I guess ) CAIPS Note says his next BFD(Bring Forward Date) is 9th july 2010 so i think we(May Applicants)can expect something around end july or 1st week of august... :)
Hope for the best....

CAIPS is a computer system used by Citizenship and Immigration Canada in order to get the status of your application. This system is used for all types of applications - both temporary and permanent. When your application is received at the visa post, immigration officers create a CAIPS note. CAIPS file number is the number that has been assigned to your application in the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR). This file number usually starts with letter B followed BY digit

Hi Ankit,
Thanks for updating my name in the list.

I also wanted to share some of my thoughts, since it is already start of Fall ( from next month) even if we get our landing papers let say by end of September it will be very difficult for anyone to attempt migrating in during the winters if one has no experience of handling extreme weather conditions. I expect people to start migrating in the end of March. Do you guys agree or there are folks who would start packing no matter what time of the year it is? :D

Also have people who do not have family in Canada or arranged employment decided on the location where they plan to settle? This will be a nice topic to discuss while we all are on the 2-3 month waiting cycle. ;D

I would agree with your thoughts. My opinion was that if I get my Visa by Sep end, then I may travel this year itself (which is unlikely)
Else Next year May begining.

The only exception is, if I get a Job in Canada before landing (again almost impossible) then I may travel at any time

Hi Ankit,

It is very difficult to get a job prior to landing. Additionally we have to do a survival job for few months. So i feel if we have relative there, then we can think to immigrate immediate after our visa issued.

Its all personal opinion & I am sure all have different scenario to look at it......

Hi waiting4pr,

You have applied in the same occupation field as I have...Would you mind sharing your experience(Technologies you are in) & location please. I am from Surat, Gujarat and I am a DotNet developer with 4+ years of Experience. Any other developers would like to share are also most welcome...

Hi CBI - I agree there is a possibility of doing some of the survival jobs and taking up positions which are couple of grades below your current level. Remember they have lots of US candidates who have US experience applying for the same positions after migration and for the companies there they seems to be much better choice than us. This is one of the reasons that if you go in winters then the survival jobs will have a very depressing effect on your mood. I believe the best time of the year is around March end or mid April. This way you can settle in for couple of weeks get used to your local area. Again applying remotely is a possibility but with the down turn most of the companies are asking for local workers that is they do not want to give relocation allowance to even people based in Canada. So choosing a city which has more companies might be suitable than opting for a cheaper town with less companies.

Hi Ankit,
If you are alone and not traveling with family then you can take a chance during this year itself ..get used to the winters ASAP and get a head start on the jobs which might open up in few months. But with wife and kids you will have to take the necessary steps of finding a good school and safe neighborhood, cheaper apartment to start with.
