Hi Guys !

i have a query ....

I got my PR visa stamped on 19th August 2015 and I plan to move to Canada in the month of April 2016

My son's passport is expiring 27th August 2016 and I think the passport should be valid for at least 6 months prior to travel. But in case of my son , it be only 4 months remaining. I would like to know if I should renew the passport now or next year maybe in jan or feb . Or will he be allowed to travel on 4 months expiry since we have a PR visa.

Also, my daughter is currently in 9th standard in India , so should I get her 9th completed and then move or should I move before that .
I am wondering if she has to repeat her 9th there as well if I don't get the same completed.

Can anyone help with the above 2 queries ?

Thanks

If you are not planning to return to India immediately, you can get your son's passport renewed at the Indian consulate in Canada. I wouldn't suggest you renew the passport now, or you'll have to send in the new passport for stamping. Once you are there and have your PR card, you no longer need to have the visa stamp in a valid passport, and so you can apply for a renewal.
I would suggest you let your daughter finish her 9th and then move. That way, she has a whole year to get adjusted to the education system there. If you put her into a school there at the end of the term, there will be too much pressure on her because it'll be too close to exam time. Of course, your own convenience and circumstances in this regard are something you'll have to take a call on.

Got my PPR early this morning :D

Thanks Rahul for your suggestions....however , I am concerned about the issuance of the tickets for my son with his passport having less than 6 months of expiry . Most of the airlines do not issue a ticket with the passports having less than 6 months of expiry. I am not sure about the Canadian Border Agency's requirements as well !

Do you have any concrete information on that ?

Thanks

Seniors,

Please help on these:-

1. Do I need to take appointment from VFS to submit my passport??
2. Both Primary and dependent applicant have to go to VFS? or only Primary applicant can submit all passports?
3. Can I choose VFS other than New Delhi?? Like Kolkata.

Please advice

The airline restrictions normally apply to business and visitor visas, as these visas are for a limited time, after which you'll HAVE to come back. The PR visa is permission to stay indefinitely in Canada, which leaves you ample time to renew the passport at the consulate there. I'd suggest you call a couple of airlines and find out. CIC states that your passport needs to be valid a minimum of 6 months AT THE TIME OF ISSUANCE OF VISA (sorry for the caps...not shouting, just emphasising). You shouldn't have a problem landing.

1. Call VFS and find out if you need an appointment.
2. You can submit all the passports, but carry a letter of authorisation from all adult dependents.
3. You can use any VFS you want. After all, they all send the passports to Delhi visa office anyway. You just need to carry a copy of the PPR Mail/ letter with you.

Hi,

You have rightly said that 6 months passport validity is required for travel.

You will have to apply for a new passport.

Kindly check your PPR email also - it says visa will not be issued beyond the validity of the passport.

Please check the Visa on your sons passport also for the same.

Whether you will have to send the new passport to VO for stamping again - Please raise a CSE.

I don't have any knowledge about your second query.

Cheers

Congratulations Bans

1. You do not need a appointment for passport submission, neither they give one.
2. You can submit passports for your family members.
3. You can choose any VFS office.

Cheers!!
