There has been a spate of fraudulent calls from scammers pretending to call from Citizenship & Immigration Canada and making threats of all sorts. They even have the ability to have the call display read ‘Citizenship & Immigration’ See these news items:

In 2014, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre of the RCMP received just 75 complaints relating to false CIC calls and 1,251 false CRA calls. Thus far in 2015, they’ve received 381 complaints about fake callers from CIC who’ve obtained over $106,000 from their victims, and 2,855 complaints about CRA pretenders who’ve stolen over $250,000.

Do not fall for these scams and please also inform other family members not to entertain such calls.

Hello all,

This post could be irritating while you are all waiting for your PPR but I thought of sharing my experiences for those who have already reached stage 4.

Most of you can see my time-lines on the left side. I am currently in Ottawa, Canada and its been 45 days in Canada and found a job in Ottawa itself after 40 days. Weather is good here as summer has started.

Most of you have been thinking that many active forum members became inactive once they got their visa or landed in Canada. It is not deliberately done but things will change suddenly once you start packing the things and land in Canada. Its a completely different world where you need be very strong in embracing the change, culture and things around you.

Here are few things I'd suggest you to do some ground work for the people who are aspiring to land in coming months

1/ goto canada job sites like indeed.ca, workopolis, monster and try to find jobs which match your skillset.
2/ Do not apply to any one of them. Try to understand what exactly they are asking in the job description
3/ Do some work in understanding the things they've asked in the job. Try to learn them before hand. Online / youtube will work
4/ Try to find resume online. I'd suggest indeed.ca to find existing resumes
5/ Research everything. Try to take notes for the every job you see. List down everything you know or don't know
6/ Create LinkedIn profile and try to connect canadian recuiters/headhunters. search for companies like procom, quantum, randstad, hays, adecco etc..Send emails via linkedin to recruiters that you would be available soon and try to get connected.

I hope this helps for certain individuals to get a kick start.

Once you are here start attending workshops / meeting new people to find the hidden jobs. It would certainly take few weeks to months to get a first job. Getting a job is NOT impossible and everybody gets settled here in Canada.

I will post whatever I find useful to this community whenever I find time but I wont be far away from you all.

All the best.

Thank you brother for the crisp and positive info on job hunting :D :D :D

Hi Guys ,

Just wanted to check if it is ok for the primary applicant to change jobs at this stage , as per the timeline.

I checked with my consultant friend , who said that it is fine now since rprf and medicals have been done and they only do background checks before that. Moreover , I am already holding a ten years multiple visa and I believe the checks would have done at that time itself once i visited last year.

Any views ?
