Application received July 14 10:26am yahoo!!! Kasali na ako sa mga naghihintay ng PER! Hehe

Helo fellow pinoys! Lets say lang in 2-3 months time nareceive ko na yung PER (fingeres crossed). Once nareceive na ba ang PER, siguradong approved na yun? If not, ilang percentage based from previous experiences ang na-deny at na-reject after PER was issued? Not including yung mga bagsak sa medical and police clearance ha. Thank you!!

Employment Reference Letters:
ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED/NOTARIZED COPIES

Letters of reference from your employers constitute a key component of your application for Permanent Residence.

IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A REFERENCE FROM YOUR CURRENT EMPLOYER, PLEASE PROVIDE A WRITTEN EXPLANATION.

As a general rule, reference letters must be issued with a date, signed by a supervisory officer at the place of employment. They MUST be on original company's letterhead, showing the company's full address, contact details, and be stamped with the company's official seal.

Letters from your current and former (if any) employers describing your work experience are a very important part of your application. These letters should be detailed and must show the Canadian Immigration officer that you performed certain work activities for a specific duration in accordance with your skills and qualifications.
The letter(s) should clearly describe the duties and tasks of your particular position.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Letters that only indicate position, salary, and a statement that “he was a very good employee and we would hire him again” may not be sufficient! These letters are missing the important details of the applicant's performance while working with the company.

• Employment Reference letters must include the following:
-the specific period of your employment with the company;
-the position(s) you have held during the period of employment and the time spent in each position
-your main responsibilities in each position;
-if possible, your total annual salary

Elements of A Good Employment Letter (Worksheet)

A good job related reference letter gives many details. It lists the projects you worked on, and the achievements you accomplished. Very importantly, it should also describe your day-to-day duties and tasks. These daily tasks may seem mundane, but they often demonstrate that you perform the duties of a certain position, and that you possess the required basic skills. It is important that the letter demonstrates that you know the basic skills of your position, and that you have already been trained in them.

We are aware that a strong reference letter is sometimes not easy to obtain.
At a minimum, the letter should state your position, the length of your employment, salary, and a summary of your duties.
Employment Letter Problems?

• Sometimes people are reluctant to ask their employer for such letters, for fear that the employer will become suspicious of them. If this is the case, then you may ask colleagues or even reputable well-known customers you have worked with to write an employment letter for you.

• Letters from colleagues must be notarized, and should state that he/she has worked with you, and witnessed you performing certain duties. Letters from clients do not need to be notarized if they are printed on the client's official letterhead.

• In those cases where employment letters are not available, or where letters from colleagues or clients are substituting, as many of the following additional documents should be provided to our office as possible:

• tax documents
• pay slips
• performance appraisals
• contracts,
• promotion letters or letters of appointment
• previous immigration documents (such as H1 Visa applications from the USA)
• letters sometimes provided by employers for banking purposes, in which the letter confirms your position and salary; this kind of letter may be available from your Personnel/Human Resources Department.

Please note that these substitutes may be provided, even in the case that you are able to obtain a good employment letter as detailed above. Providing us with such documents can help us to better demonstrate credibility of your employment history, which may facilitate your application, or the chance of an interview waiver.

Generally a reference letter is written as follows:

[Company Letter Head]

[Date]

To whom it may concern,

[Applicant] has been employed by [employer] from [start date] to [end date], in the position of [position or job title]. His/her monthly/annual salary was [salary]

In this position, he/she had the following duties and responsibilities:

[list of duties and responsibilities]

Additionally, [any additional information]

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any more information

Sincerely,

[Name of supervisor]
[Signature of supervisor]
[Business card of supervisor attached if possible]

The description, duties and responsibilities on the letter should closely resemble, but not be an exact copy of, those expected of an employee working in your NOC code.

If your company will not issue such a letter, you should take every step to obtain official documentation from the company listing your job duties and responsibilities. As well, these other alternatives may be used, however they may not always work. It is always better to obtain an original letter of reference directly from a supervisor or HR.

Pwede naman din ang self-affidavit basta magandang maganda ang pagkagawa mo.

Welcome to the waiting game! Hehe.

I think once PER is issued, very minimal chance of rejection na unless sa background check may nakita silang mali or you misdeclared.

Feeling ko binawasan nila ng one step, kaya mas mabagal, mas thorough checking before issuing PER, kaya after you receive PER mas faster than last year pag nandito na sa local VO ang papers. Although That's just my opinion (or because they were watching world cup and Wimbledon and did not work full time hahaha)

  • Nice theory! Pero gaya nga ng sabi sa international thread, paano na yung mga gumamit ng DD na 3 months lang ang expiry.

Pero ang bilis nga ng process kapag may PER na. Napansin ko lang din.

Presenting Your Work Experience
I hope this would help. A lot of questions in your mind will be answered by this article.
source:immigrationcanada.pro

PRESENTING YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE
You will need evidence of your work experience as part of your application.

Items such as income tax returns or income tax receipts on their own will not be acceptable.

Ideally, you should provide letters of reference from your current and past employers. These letters should be on company letterhead and signed by the appropriate individual. The letters must include your period of employment, positions held, duties, salary, hours of work, and a business card of the person signing.

If you can not provide all of the above, you must include an explanation in your application why not. If you do not have (or can not get letters of reference), the next best thing would be to provide old contracts of employment with your employers, or old performance appraisals, etc.

If you can not provide any of the above, your application may be in jeopardy. If you can find an old supervisor or even work mate, he or she could swear an affidavit on the above details of your employment to help support your application, along with your own explanation and description.

At this point, you will have to get creative about documenting your work experience. Are there any third-party publicly available documents about you on the web you can point to? Any news articles? Association newsletters?

You will need to find anything you can to support your work experience claim and accept that CIC may or may not accept it depending on the circumstances.

Another article which gives tips. Again this will enlighten us why do we do this and that. :)
source: movingtocanada site

Here are some tips for preparing your Permanent Residency (PR) application to submit to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
1. Keep copies of your documents
Retain complete copies of whatever you submit to CIC for your own records. You should know what your application for permanent residency contained and said. If you are requested to attend an interview or CIC is questioning something, you need to know what was in your application when you submitted it.
2. Follow the CIC Checklist
Make sure you read and understand every word of that checklist so you know exactly what they are looking for. Ensure that you have included everything they are requesting if it is applicable to you. You can also add additional documents if you believe your application needs them to prove that you should be granted permanent residence. Remember, the onus is on the applicant to prove that they meet the requirements of the program.
3. Don't use staples
Use paper clips or binder clips to hold your application together. When CIC gets an application they drill a hole in the upper left hand corner of the documents and insert a fastener to hold the application together. It frustrates them to have to remove a bunch of staples, so make it easy on these people. You're trying to impress them.
4. Track your package
Send your application by a trackable method such as Xpress Post or a courier, and save the receipt. This is your proof that your application has been submitted. And ensure you send it to the right address, which will be on the checklist.
5. Complete the application forms on a computer
Do the application forms on a computer. Don't handwrite them. This should be a no-brainer in this age, but it's worth stating and repeating. Completing the form electronically is easier and reduces the risk of errors that can slow down the application process.
6. Communicate
If you've got something special to say to CIC about your case, include it in a cover letter.
7. Be complete and accurate
If you need more space for any section, use an extra sheet of paper and submit it along with your application. On the top of each additional sheet, write:
• the name of the principal applicant,
• the form number (e.g. IMM 0008), and
• the number and/or letter of the section you are completing.
8. Keep track of the expiry date on your passport
Applications can be delayed or denied because the applicant has failed to notice that their passport is out of date or will be out of date imminently. Don't be the one who makes this elementary error.
9. Don't leave gaps in time
CIC want to know where you've been, why you were there, and when you went there — and that's just for vacation. You will also have to supply a detailed employment and study history (if applicable). Gaps in time are deemed as incomplete applications and will delay or hinder your overall application.
10. Never lie when applying for permanent residency
Not even a little white lie. Lies can and will hurt your application for permanent residency, even if you don't get caught immediately. If it is found that you've obtained permanent residence through fraudulent means, which includes misrepresenting the facts on your application, they can even take away citizenship many years later. Don't risk it. Tell the truth and nothing but the truth.

This is long but informative. I changed the color of some words for emphasis. Happy reading and gandang umaga.:)

sa first company ako medyo kinakabahan, kasi wala talaga akong natagong mga documents (i.e contracts, payslips), and yung COE pa that time (o sila lang) wala man lang position, hindi ko na hiningan, feeling ko hindi ako rereplyan, haha... (maliit na company lang kasi). Sana maging ok na yung letter of explanation and affidavit of employment reference from my Supervisor that time.
