All Senior members and people who have landed in Canada lately,
I have received my visa a week back so i needed your help as i am confused and have a lot of questions regarding the process ahead.
1) Which all official documents do I have to take with me to Canada for myself my wife and my daughter. Also tell me about the education
documents too??
for landing purposes you need the the Passport, COPR and Proof of funds for each person listed on the PR application. For education documents you can take them but they're not required by the immigration officer. They might/will be usefule for further education/verification purposes
2) After landing in Canada can I come back in a month’s time and if yes then what is the procedure to be done before i leave from Canada??
You can leave anytime you want after you become PR. For procedure all you need is VISA to the country you are going to and tickets booked But to re-enter by commercial vehicle (bus/plane/train/ship) you will need to have PR card else apply for PRTD document
3) How we suppose to apply or register for the health insurance card/ PR Card/SIN card there and what all documents are needed??
Depends on the state/province you are going to. For Ontario you need to wait min 3 months to establish resideny and get Health Card (OHIP), SIN can be applied right away at the airport (dependig on which airport you land and what time) and in any case the next day at any Service Canada office
4) Do we have to evaluate our education for Canada Employment purpose??
Not ncessarily, every employer has different requirements and backgound check. Depends on what job you do and what the employer asks. There is no right/wrong answe to it
5) For studying further in Canada do we have to give and IELTS?? If yes then Academic/General one??
Again it depends on the course/unversity/college you chose and go to. If IELTS is required it will be ACADEMIC, GENERAL is only used for immigraiton purposes
6) After how many years of stay do we become a citizen of Canada?? What are the criteria for we being eligible for it??
If you stay a min of 4 years in Canada within the 6 year period, and have stayed in Canada for at least 183 days of all the 4 years (that are counted) and pay taxes on time and have established residency then you are eligible to apply for citizenship. Citizenship process again takes 6 months to an year and requires a written test, interview and oath cermony before you beccome one
7) For how long is the PR valid and what are the eligibility criteria for renewal that we have to fulfill??
There is no expiry of PR, its the expiry date of PR card, that being said, you need to be physically present in canada for at least 2 years in the past 5 years (on the date you wish to check) to maintain your PR. PR is never renewed, PR cards are as PR cards expire every 5 years. If your days of presense are not met, you lose PR and need to apply with CIC again
8) Do we need an American visa to visit when we are in PR status??
Yes, Canadian PR status does not give you any sort of VISA authorization to enter, live, study and work in US. Please reach out to US consulate for specific visa required
9) I have done M Pharmacy and my Wife is a Civil Engineer what all is necessary to get a Job there like what should we study or do some courses or something that increases the chances of Job securing.
Need to check with the employer or people who are in the same field. You'll get an idea when you get into PR. But for Pharma I think there are certifications that may need to be done
Please do reply to me query as i am preparing to leave for Canada soon and i have more query too which I would be asking on the forum soon.
Thanking You Seniors/member,
