Hai all,

I need an urgent advice,

I have to open an account to take money to another country.one person can take money up to 1 million in Rupees without tax.I travel with my spouse hence I hv to take more than 14000 CAD.In the application I showed money on spouse name.

Is it ok that I take drafts on my name and my spouse name like 7000CAD each. ( then altogether 14000)

Hi

First of all, as per Indian Govt, an individual can carry equivalent of 10000 USD in a single trip. This can be in the form of cash, draft, traveler cheques etc..

CAD 14000 can be carried in your name alone because these days USD 1 = CAD 1.33 so shouldn't be a problem. Since these calculations are borderline calculations and you would surely like to be safe, its better if you can split these CAD 14K in two names (either currency, draft etc.) In any case, you would like to carry some amount in currency instead of all in draft, that cash you can show in your wife's name and rest DD in your name. Keep in mind that banks in Canada take around a week to encash your DD.

Secondly, it doesn't matter in whose name who had shown money in the application as long as the money is in the name of the person who was on your application. I am not sure why you have to open an account to take money to any other country?

In case you have any more questions, you can write back on this thread or PM me.

As per RBI's notification dated July 01st 2015, all immigrant visa holders can carry upto US$250,000 equivalent ($3000 in cash rest in either bank draft/traveller cheque/forex card).

Many Congratulations Sandy 17. Can you please confirm your timeline correctly? For DM is it Aug 23 or Sep 23. Also, can you please confirm when your ECAS was updated to DM, did you receive that line which says… Decision has been made to your file, office will contact you etc......or is it just DM and no line after medical?

Please confirm. Your help would be highly appreciated. ???

check out my timeline

Hello Mate,

Sorry what exactly I have to look at, I guess your point is motivating about patience I guess.

Our timeline is quiet similar , I have applied in 25 Nov-14, AOR- 7 April,
SLU- 22 June stating file started on 16 June. MR- 22 June it self, TLU- 21st July.

So after TLU nice and long wait is going and just having hope nd patience on hand for now.

Thanks to you and other forum members by which patience doesn't getting lost.

I just noticed we have the same month of medical done.
but what I want to say now is, when I was waiting for MR people with the same application date of mine had done their medicals 1-2 months prior to mine.
but when I finished my medical things were super fast. And still those who completed their medical 2 months before me were waiting for ppr but I landed here.
I never raised any querries during these days. Just waited for the good news.
so be positive. Good news will come
