Hello everyone,

I am right in the middle of applying under FSW1 under NOC 4131 as a college teacher.

I have had more than one year of work experience as college lecturer so I am eligible to apply. Currently I am employed as a Secondary teacher.

The college has issued me my work experience certificate stating the duration I have worked with them but they have not mentioned my duties on it. My question to you all, if I need any other document from college explaining my duties as a lecturer there?

I worked with them about 8 years ago so now it would be difficult to ask & get such document from there. Please advise what should I do?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards,
RAJNI

Well, try get in touch with them or someone in high position to list the duties and get a letter with information that is required for immigration purposes. If you cannot do this, then get tax letter, your experience letter, your contract, etc. Also get some sort of proof of your duties. I don't know if all this work, but that is what i would do. What do other people think?

That is the right way to go about it.

Thanks Rupeshhari & BobbyB.

I approached the people on higher position at College but they did not help. The only thing I can get from College is work experience certificate stating I have worked with them from date so n so to so n so that's it. I can not expect more from them.

Don't you think a work certificate where the college clearly writes I have worked with them as a College Lecturer will suffice the purpose?

I had worked for them for 15 months during year 1999 - 2001. Since April 2001 I am working as a Secondary Teacher so you see I have lost touch with College and they won't help. Please let me know if I can survive immigration process with the help of experience certificate letter?

I would appreciate your help guys.

i think you probably could get PR because CIC does not specify what level of lecturship they looking for in 4131. There is always no guarantee but if I were you, I'd apply. Does the letter state your salary, start date, end date and your title.

@rajnik,

I can understand what you meant to say. To be honest, I was in the same situation. People in some country ( specally South Asian) think if you approach them ( lets say in your case principal of the college you taught) with a format of what you need, think you are trying to fool them/or you are trying to be an smart ass. They will also claim that they have own format like you mention, that you worked there and so so...but immigration ppl need to know your duties as well. With a job offer comes a set of duties you are expected to do..but that is not true in some countries..so write up a exp letter and go line by line with them and tell them you are not writting anything wrong or you didn't do.

all you can do is try......

I think when it comes to say lecturers and medical doctors the respective NOC code covers a wide range of experience levels and duties are pretty narrow. If someone tells me they are a lecturer or medical doctor, I could probably say their duties. This is not the case with 0213 and 2173 (which is what most people have been denied on). Duties become really important 0213 and 2173 so CIC can differentiate between managers and non-managers. Duties (i think) are less important for lecturers and medical doctors because they don't need to differentiate between one type of lecturer and another.

I agree with Canadacanada, Rajnik should write a letter describing one's duties and explain that institution does not give out any other letter other than the one they gave out.

This is just my opinion not necessarily CIC's.

Thanks Rupeshhari & Canadacanada,

I appreciate your valuable comments. I think this is good idea to explain CIC what my main duties & responsibilities were on a seperate sheet. My job title written on certificate is "Lecturer" so perhaps this helps.

One more question guys:

On my work experience letter the College has stated "She has worked with our college during academic sessions 1999 - 2000 & 2000 - 2001 as a Lecturer" it does say I was employed with them for two sessions full time.

Since CIC rules for work experience says, you must have continuous & full time one year experience so can I apply on the basis of this letter.

Please help with this Rupeshhari & Canadacanada.

Thanks & best regards,
RAJNI

yes. You could explain the academic year in your letter.
