My guess is that Ontario was waiting if there would be any All Program draws in April since the memo from December implied that until the end of March no such draws would be conducted.

I believe next week there is a possibility for them to issue new NOIs, hopefully. I am impatiently waiting for one. Been long time in the queue.
I don't think so Elvis. I think they will wait until an All Program Draw/ CEC and then accordingly go forward until then no OINP HCP draw, which does not make sense but it is what it is. Hope you get the invite soon, are you waiting for Tech draw or the priority one?

What I'm guessing is there's a part of the story they didn't want to tell. That's probably why the woman couldn't go the legal way and sue them because she's also in some shady shit with the land lord and/or the broker. I wouldn't be surprised because I've seen with my own eyes in Vancouver how land lords only accept payment in cash and never by bank transfer. I guess you can figure out why they do it and also that it'd be foolish to even think those land lords would make a receipt for the monthly rent paid.

I won't only bash Canada over this. In terms of real estate, every single one of these so-called developed countries is an absolute shithole.

It's the same in India too, legally speaking. Although, you can bribe some policemen or politicians to get it done sooner extra-legally.

This is the case in South Africa as well. You can't simply evict a squatter or a non-paying tenant. You have to go the legal route. They can continue to occupy your space for 90 days until the court gives them notice. You also cannot claim damages from them.

I had a similar scenario few years ago, with a tenant that was not paying for 5 months. I couldn't evict them, so I started removing stuff from the apartment gradually to make it uninhabitable (doors, window panes, cut off water, electricity, etc), which eventually forced the tenant to leave :rolleyes:.

Empty lots/land are even worse. In SA, people take over govt-owned land as squatters and even the govt has to go to court to get them off it. It takes months (even years) to resolve. It's a hot mess.

I am shocked about this happening in Canada though. As someone in the market looking for a house to buy, it scares me.

You come back and someone has taken over your place. They have the fucking legal right to live in it until the courts do something about it. There is absolutely nothing you can do on your own. And you must keep paying mortgage on it along with a taxes.

Why is there a fucking law to support squatting!!!
