Isn't this girl taking your side? You just bashed her for no reason. Nice to see such hateful and toxic people from India moving to Canada. Makes me want to remain as a H1b slave in the US or try for Europe.
No man, they weren't. Not really. They seemingly moved to Canada without doing their due diligence about the cost of living and real estate (I don't know how that's possible though, that's all people would talk about for a while). And now they're just assuming the same ignorance on my part and projecting their frustrations. Why would I want any part of that?

Also I'm pretty sure that's a guy, not that it matters.

Anyone here know about the housing situation in Monreal? Those pseudo-Europeans apparently designed the city with high density in mind.

Hence the existence of a functional public transit in the city and residencancial area with multiple storeys instead of NIMBYism.

If anyone could chime in with first-hand experience, I would be grateful.

Are you originally from EU? If so you'd be happy to know that some areas of Montreal are experimenting with the idea of superblocks now, following the examples set by the dutch and spanish. I doubt it will spread to the rest of Canada though sadly, because it's too strongly influenced by US culture.

Bhai mein desi hun. (sorry if I offended you by assuming you speak hindi)

Already done with soft-landing and seen Toronto (GTA), Vancouver and Calgary. Except for Vancouver (which is ridiculously expensive), other cities are plagued with NIMBYism and urban sprawl. Impossible to survive without a car and despite their sprawly architectures, they all lack housing (hence the crisis of course).

Montreal has been an outlier in my research. Unfortunately, I didn't know visit Montreal and haven't seen it first-hand.

Oh I see.

Yeah, car-centric urban design, NIMBYism etc is all US influence, and will likely never change. Obviously I don't have first hand experience, but I fear Montreal will lean more towards becoming Americanized rather than the other way around. As far as I know, it's just Montreal that's more european. Maybe Quebec city too. But sadly, most of Quebec is like any other Canadian province (or the US) in terms of urban design.

For some reason, Mushy's (online) demeanor where he's super formal, serious and honest seems to piss off a lot of people and I'm all for it. He doesn't outright and in intentionally troll anybody which makes him a lot more effective in making them angry
s'okay, I got my counterfoil, whatever the hell that is, and my application approved. So I'mma make like our old buddy impatient kanagroo and hop on out of this forum.

btw looking forward to 3 or more responses to your post at random points in the next few weeks, discussing why I'm the literal reincarnation of H**ler or something. Hope you all have fun with it!

Toronto resident here. Visited Calgary, Montreal, Quebec City and obv Toronto. All in all, Montreal is a better city overall in quality of life. cheaper housing, more compact city, better social scene but all of this is contigent on you being able to fit in to the community. this will require French. If i didn't go with my french speaking friend, I might as well have been a typical tourist visitng the same old spots that everyone else does.

alot of young 'native' torontians are moving to montreal for the better quality of life. probably tryna get away from all the horde of immigrants moving into TO

Might just join them. Did you use their subway? Is it as efficient as they say? I am used to a subway connecting almost every part of the city.

Also, could you tell if the culture over there is still feels like America-lite (capitalism, live-to-work rather than work-to-live like europe) or not? Is it different than the rest of Canada?

Why are you so damn defensive? They're simply talking to you and you're mouthing off like they insulted your entire gene pool. You called this person annoying and then you accused them of looping you into their frustrations. My question is: FOR WHAT!? For simply talking to you? For saying something obvious and trying to caution you?

If any normal person would read the statement by @Alysson and your response, they would come to the same conclusion as me. When I went to the US the first time, I did hell lot of research and thought that my shit didn't stink and the minute I got off the plane, the ground reality started to sink in. If you're going to be this defensive and obnoxious in real life, don't be surprised if you're mistreated in Canada. The people who usually lash out on others like that are usually hiding their own insecurities. Always interesting to know how my fellow Indians are making a reputation for themselves and potentially for other immigrants.

Being rude to people and acting like an unstable bully isn't a sign of honesty; it's a sign of something else.
