Dunno. After 1 year (almost), having an application cancelled just out of blue, will be the worst thing possible. However, I just don't understand why they don't process January 2021-March 2021 FSW applicants. Pretty much everyone has "Eligibility - Not Started" status.
There are people waiting from 2019 and 2020 and you wanna have 2021 applications processed? Gimme a fking break.

Well, most of 2019 are waiting for just a final stage (counterfoil), correct? People in 2020 and January-February 2021 are not that far from each other; 1-2 months difference.

I am from Nov 2020. Only eligibility has passed. Also, a bulk of backlogs are between Aug 2020 to Dec 2020 aors.

Was watching Kubeir and Steven Meurrens. Steven thinks that applications would be cancelled (Post-AOR) and EE-FSW will become NOC-based only. As a Post-AOR (Jan. 2021) who didn't even have eligibility started, the possibility of applications being cancelled is a nightmare. Don't know what to think.
NOC based selection is basically PNP then isn't it? I don't see the point of doing that.

Which proves my point. We have only 2 months separating us but your eligibility has already been passed; in my case, "Eligibility - Not Started".

That's why listening to Meurrens discussing why there is a possibility of cancelling all applications is extremely worrying.

I remember legal falcon was discussing this and saying that once application is submitted, a decision must be made. To cancel applications, there needs to be a whole procedure that will take some time. He also said that the situation in 2012 was different and backlog was much worse.
What happened then was applications were in the backlog for like 4+ years after which they decided to cancel them. Now it's 2+ years so if IRCC does big CEC draws or other big inland streams like TR to PR while having this giant backlog of outland applicants, then cancellation is highly likely.

Right now even CEC draws are not happening for almost 5 month, let's see if this changes.

Very unlikely to happen.

Correct but on the federal level. So, rumors is that FSW will target certain NOC codes (or whatever they will be called) that satisfy federal demand in certain occupations. Have no idea how it will be different from PNP (with the exception of an applicant being able to live anywhere) but several lawyers mentioned that there is a possibility.

Right. So a certain part of the video is that Meurrens says that every year that FSW applications don't get processed, the likelihood of them being cancelled increases by 10%. He also says that there is a high pressure on IRCC to invite CEC people due to them being out of status at some point.

He is very biased towards CEC which is very clear. Still, it's one thing to read those predictions from people here, and another thing listen to a lawyer.

A huge CEC draw may happen because Grandpas are going out of status in canada.

Hope his predictions go wrong.
How do they decide which apps to cancel? If they do cancel, they lose the backlog that is being said to be enough to cover 2022 and then need to start over. They don't have enough inland apps to cover their target and definitely not enough skilled applicants.

Also, the only thing that gave inlands an edge over outlanders was the travel restrictions due to covid, that is now no longer the case.

I don't see how this can happen.

But provinces actually do that. Cherry pick from candidates and they choose which NOCs they need. How on earth would Manitoba or SK benefit from this? Or the Atlantic region?

Exactly. Federal is made up of provinces. Why would Federal draws target NOCs when that is the very reason for the existence of PNP programs in the first place?

So, Meurrens mentioned that back in 2012-2013 there was a note issued that says "If your eligibility (or positive decision, I can't remember what he said) is passed by a certain date, then you're fine. Otherwise, return application and refund fees".

Someone over here has made a good point (Kubeir said the same); there are 55K application in FSW which is not a huge load.

Imagine that all the invited butchers/carpenters end up in Ontario or Vancouver when Manitoba and SK also need them. Just makes no sense really.
