Singapore VO responded to an applicant in Kubeir FB group, whose AOR is October/2019 and file is approved, that travel restrictions prevent them from issuing his PPR, since only exempt travel is allowed and he isn’t exempt (though COPRs are exempt). This is quite ridiculous that VOs are choosing what rules to follow.

So does the United States issue green cards as easily and as many as Canada issue permanent resident visas?
Simple answer. No.

Hi zekkeh,

I am a FSW-O applicant.
I have 2 years 9 months work experience from Job A
2 months work ex (Current Job B)
Cumulative - 2 years 11 months.
You mentioned you got ITA with 35 months work experience, could you elaborate?

Might help me, shall be grateful. Also I had a gap of one month between Job A and Job B, would it be an issue? From what I understand it is Cumulative work experience so gap would not matter except only 1 year should be continous.
Please guide, thanks.
no, the gap won’t be an issue.

I got my ITA with 35 months of work experience because the resolution by which work experience is calculated is in months, not weeks or days. So if for example, you started working on 25 Jan 2018, your work experience would be considered as having reached its 1 year mark on 1 Dec 2018, and 3 year mark on 1 Dec 2020, and not 25 Jan 2019 or 2021 respectively.

1. What kinda of disagreements?

2. hahaha

3. Yes I was speaking in terms of FSW draws.

4. I really do wish there were other avenues than just going with Canada. It's not my preferred destination but its the only place that used to invite expats relatively easily. I would love to move to somewhere in EU but that has its own host of issues.

Yep. Due to the info from other members talking about how the officers might reject the application as the experience months weren't fully accrued at the time of ITA. Like I said, it seemed like FSW draws were here to stay and no indication that there might be any slow down or stoppage of draws in the upcoming weeks so I was confident that I'll get the ITA in Jan itself. Little did I know IRCC had other plans. If there was any indication or a pattern of erratic draws prior to my ITA, I don't think I would've rejected it. At that time everything was back in full swing! :/
its just too bad that you were led by the lies spread by others then. a real pity and I do feel for you, but for your own sake, it’ll be best to make objective decisions in future and to take what people say here, or on any other websites, with a pinch of salt. unless they’re certified immigration consultants or lawyers of course.

I’m broken by the removal of the old thread. My interest is gone now. Removing a thread doesn’t makes a difference ever in good terms. I’ll miss you all.

No, study visa isn't mandatory. Basically it had to be employment / investment (doors are basically closed) / humanitarian / etc. based. You'd have to get work visa after the study to have a shot at immigrating anyways BUT you do have other options.

Employment based: EB visa (class 1, 2, 3). Can be converted from F (study), L1, O1 etc...or can be applied independently if you satisfy the requirements. EB5 = investment

...or you can seek asylum / stay undocumented and wait for "amnesty"
Every country has multiple immigration options, doesn't mean those are viable options. What Canada offers to people seeking immigration, hardly any first-world country does. For an average person who doesn't have ties to the USA, it's virtually impossible to think of immigrating to USA without the study route which itself is not easy.

Although I don't approve of usarules' attitude, I do want to clarify the facts about USA immigration (been there, not doing that):
  • They are the best country and will always be selective about taking in immigrants, no problems about that
  • There are still pathways one can immigrate, it's just that they are very competitive (but not impossible) AND there are country caps so if you are BORN in India / China you're fucked (for Indians that's double digit years wait for the EB 2/3 route). For ROW people it's much much faster.
  • The immigration system is dated and prone to abuse (work visa = lottery based; some used to game the system by filing multiple apps for one applicant / faking resumes to get ppl w/out USA degrees employed etc.) and the current attempt to revamp the scheme is flawed as well.
  • No, USA have no plans to drastically increase the intake at all, so it's going to take long before any tangible changes will happen (they are the best country so they can do whatever - look at china / Japan, they are 100x more based)
  • I'm no trump fan but I do think his push for merit based immigration system is the way to go
  • For those who aspire to immigrate to developed countries, Canada is arguably their ONLY hope (look no further than AUSNZ which used to be a favorite destination; European countries are tough from the get go) They will always play second fiddle to their "elder brother" in the South so it'd always going to be the second best option for those eligible.

I admit I don't know a whole lot about the US immigration system but I'm willing to bet it's not fair and transparent as usarules claims it to be. I have many relatives who are US citizens for more than 50 years. Back then it was easy to go to US but things have changed quite a lot since 9/11.
I'm not from India or China, still, I don't know what options I have to move to the US. If I could, I would but it's not so easy.

I was denied a US Student visa many years back because of the lack of funds. Today I have my own business and a decent client base in US and I make 2, maybe 3 times more money than an average US citizen. Does it make me better than anyone? I don't think so. I don't look down on people who choose to immigrate to other countries. Everyone has their reason to immigrate, but it at the end of the day, we are all equal.
Sorry to hear that. Yeah USA has the strictest screening process ever

But hey at the end of the day it's good to have other options. Just that we all know the window is closing.

I have applied for my Green card and Canadian PR. My wait period for Green card is 20 to 30 years. I will get my Canadian PR in the next few months. Not sure where you are getting your facts, but its absurd.

To members here,
Don’t feed this Troll. Some people simply wanna discourage Canadian PR aspirants. Don’t you all see? This is 3rd or 4th troll in the last 5 days. These are same person. They will come back as long as we keep feed them. You wanna lose this FSW thread, then go ahead and respond to this person.
And here begins the LOTR marathon :D

Work Visas: H1B and L1’s aren’t easy to get. Goes mostly to Indians.
Study visas: Some what easy to get but again you need to move to a dual intent visa to apply for GC.
GC thru investment: Yes, if you have $500000 USD to $1 million USD and able to employ enough Americans. Some people think that buying an real estate will fetch them GC. Nope, you need to create nee business or bug existing business. Does’t have to be profitable though.
GC thru Diversity visa lottery: 50,000 per years. You need to be lucky and fight it out.

So how it is easy to move to US: If you are anon-Indian/ Chinese and in a H1B or L1 visa, the you will get GC in less than 2 years. But getting an dual intent is tougher. Also, not all can get H1b and L1 as they are for specialized occupations only.

Any questions??
No I don't have none; like I said the USA is not for the faint of heart.

For the accomplished they can def give a shot at EB1 class. The other OP might qualify provided that he wasn't hit by visa rejection.

Immigration to the US is a sponsored only immigration. Either a company is willing to sponsor you, which basically means you’re from IT or healthcare(considering you are not from India). Or a family member sponsors you(5-7 years for parent of single applicant, 10-12 years parent of married applicants, 14-20 years for siblings). Other immigration routes are basically for exceptions and not the norm. Trump’s “merit based” was just meant to cut overall immigration by half, eliminate family based and transform employment based into CEC.

Well, I for one am not annoyed by usarules posts. He/she has the freedom to express his views and he/she is not responsible for getting someone's feelings hurt.
I just don't think what he's saying is correct and his prejudice towards immigrants probably stems from how he's been brought up. On the oppposite side of the spectrum, there's a lot of hope for Canadian immigration. The situation right now sucks for the outlanders waiting for PPRs/COPRs/AORs but it will improve. Canada has always welcomed outsiders without any discrimination in the past and will continue to do so. We just have to be patient to see how things will unfold.
