Hi All,

I applied for FSW on December 2014. I submitted a bank certificate proving my possession of the minimum balance required to be able to apply (at least 25.000 $ US).

A problem came up as the economic situation where I live (Egypt) deteriorated. Unbelievable restrictions have been placed on circulation of $ US. The government issued laws to prevent people from keeping $s outside banks and also placed restrictions on withdrawal of not very large sums. Some analysts expect that no one will be able to take their dollars out of the banks soon.

My question is: Is it ok to withdraw my $ US balance -which I will certainly keep untouched until the application is reviewed- or is it going to affect my application?

I emailed Canada embassy's office in Cairo with my query several times but they gave no reply.

I thought any applications submitted after October 2014 have been returned back.

Hi,
only applicants (CEC) applied after October 21st 2014.

I applied after October 21st, namely in December, in the FSW category, yet I received no reply and my papers and fees were not returned back.

Would someone please provide an official link stating that applicants after October 2014 will be rejected?

I hate it when people do that. I believe they are talking about the CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS, not FSW, which reached its cap in October, and all applications sent in after that (including mine) were returned.

Please understand that most people on here feel free to state their opinion as fact - it's the craziest thing I've ever seen.

In the 2014 FSW class, there were caps on the 50 NOC codes that were eligible for the program, and I really don't know how you would find out whether your NOC code reached its cap before you filed your application. I suggest you contact CIC.

As far as the money, I would preserve your access to it however you can. Remember, though, that it has to retain a certain Canadian dollar amount, so be careful about putting it into currencies that are losing value.

Good luck!
