Thanks much for your comment okbangaram... yeah i'm beating myself for not waiting 2-3 more days!! Was so close! And thanks for confirming my theory that we do get a new note on the day BG check turns to in progress...
Yeah you're right I won't lose anything by calling them, though i'm 80% sure they won't give me any info.. I've never heard of anyone calling before the 6 months mark (without DM) and got useful info..
What's their number? I live in the US, not Canada..
Also, what's a FOSS check?
Thanks again
Check the recent posts from the August Thread. We were successful in calling. There are tips there

It wouldn't happen by simply calling and asking them politely. Anyway they may answer you or not.

I'm not forcing anyone to call but I tried it because I had no update.

I called them twice and the second agent gave at least a slight update.

women with pretty voice can get away with anything over phone call.

I would still say its misrepresentation

I am sorry, but how calling a CIC call center would constitute a misrepresentation? (or am I missing something written between the lines here?).

Harris01 is pointing out that anything can be said by a sweet tongue.

Written evidence is best.

Well its everyone's choice. I called them anyway

Most of us have movement around the time gcms notes are generated. I dont think this is a coincidance..i think generating them also undergoes some review and perhaps gives our file a bit of a nudge..agents review and move them along.
I ordered my second notes on the 8th dec.
I googleded gcms sample and found that Due date stands for: bring forward date.
If they are actually done on the due date depends on the officer due date is about..

@ADteam: Thanks for explaining in details, those timelines are really fast! I haven't put any LOE in my application (Which was actually filed by my lawyer - I don't think she has put any LOE), not sure if that's going to impact anything but hoping that it doesn't impact my application.
It's alright if you haven't put in a LOE. It is not mandatory. I had one in cause I wanted to explain a few things related to my funds and immigration. Do not worry.

I am not sure where my application processed.

We can assume your application was processed at your local visa office if your PPR was sent directly from the LVO and NOT from Ottawa. Most outlanders whose applications were processed at Ottawa had to send a request mail to have their LVO issue a new PPR to them.

I reckon CIC conducts a completion assessment for all applicants (usually between 2 to 10days) and subsequently either elect to transfer applicants file to the nearest local visa office or keep them in ottawa. A school of thought belief those files transfered to local office do not require extensive background check, hence they are quickly processed at the LVO.

Another salient question is - how does CIC determine which file to transfer? Some opine that if an applicant has never left the shores of country of origin, he/she stands a greater chance of being transfered to the LVO. However, this theory isn't a set in stone, as some have come out to state that their files were retained in Ottawa in spite of not having left their country of origin.

Quite a number of things are still shrouded in mystery with CIC.

you are right ibejiopad. well me and my spouse have a lot of immigration history. so i am a bit unsure if that is the deciding factor in transfering the file to LVO. well i got PPR from LVO so i guess my application was processed there. My good luck :)

there are definitely lot of things that are in mystery with CIC but from what I have observed from my 9 months of preparation and reserch on EE system is one you have to be very precise and accurate with documentation and secondly being honest in your application (even though it looks bad on paper, I had refuasals), it ensures 95% chances of being successful with your application.

Absolutely true. They are so quick to reject files over flimsy mistakes that could have been easily corrected with a " document request" as against outright refusal.

Yes CIC has done that to me before. One has to be extra cautious at the time of submitting the corresponding documents with PR application.

It explicitly states that CIC has the absolute right to reject the application if they deem that the documents are not sufficiently valid or provided.
