Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the process to obtain the permanent residency through the FSW program. There is no much on the CIC website as to how the whole process actually works once you get invited to apply.
Once you get invited, you go through a medical examination. Is this actually done before you submit the application? Like, do you need to submit the results with the application? Also, I was reading about background checks. They say that they run their own checks...so why do we need to provide the police certificates if they run their own checks anyway? I mean it's obviously not a problem getting this,e but I was just wondering as they use intelligence agencies to run these checks. Finally, do we need to submit a whole set of fingerprints too? Are those required for the application or you have to submit them only if they are requested?

thanks a lot :)

Hi Alpha

thank you. However, I wasn't enquiring about the EE process. I already have a profile. I was wondering about the actual Canada permanent residency application, the step after the EE profile. The link has over 200 pages and they only speak about the express entry profile, which I already have.

thanks!

Once you get invited, you then have to do a medical exam, panel physician will then give you an information sheet that will be attached to your application Post-ITA.
Erm about the background check, that is what CIC has requested so I think we just have to follow the rules, no one can really say how the background checks work tbh.
No you do not need to submit fingerprints, however some countries require fingerprints for their police certificates.

Hi Ibyt

thank you so much for this. I was just wondering about the fingerprints because I don't live in my original country, but in a different one. For this country we don't need fingerprints to obtain a police certificate. I kept thinking that it was the same as for the US. My friend who got married to a US citizen told me that she had to go to get the fingerprints taken during the application for the US permanent residency. I guess Canada does not require all applicants to submit their fingerprints with the application?

thanks!

Fingerprints are not required for Canada, except you need to submit one to get a police certificate from a country that requires it.
