Dear Members, first of all many thanks for the very informative and helpful attitude shown by all in this forum. This had very much nudged and provided me the confidence to proceed to apply for a FSW PR without the help of the immigration consultant who charge an arm and leg just so to fill them applications.

Here is the background.

Primary Applicant: My Wife
Age : 35(Will be at the time of application in May 2014, Born December 1978)
Citizenship/Country of Residence : India

Dependents : 1 (Myself - Age 33 Years at time of application in May 2014, Born May 1982) - Yes my wife is older
than I'm. Married since May 2010.
Education
Undergraduate : BPT, April 2001 (Bachelor's in Physiotherapy) - Ramachandra Medical University, India
Post Graduation 1 : MBA, September 2006 (General Management - Off Campus Program) - Salem International University,
USA
Post Graduation 2 : MSc, Public Heath Research September 2007 (Epidemiology) - University of Aberdeen, UK

Work Experience : More than 1 year but less than 2 as a Physiotherapist in India
Currently employed as a Senior Epidemiologist for Medical Consultancy in India

English Proficiency

Primary Applicant : Scheduled for February 2014(Previous IELTS,test overall was 8)
Dependent(Myself) : Scheduled for February 2014(Previous TOEFL Score 277/300)

Residential History : In the last 10 years we have lived for over a year in Malaysia, UK & India.

Now the Questions:

1. If my wife were to score over 22 points for English Equivalency and given the credentials and experience would we qualify.
My Methodology for Calculation

English Proficiency : 22
Education :21
Age : 11
Experience : 9
Spouse English : 5

Total 68 (I believe minimum requirement is 67)

Please advise if I have made any mistake where I might be able to claim or loose points based on this scenario. FYI neither of us have any applicable relative in Canada or hold valid employment offers.

2. We wish to apply under the Physiotherapist Cap. In that case is there a requirement to send the MSc Credentials to WES for evaluation. We wish not to proceed with the evaluation of MBA credentials(its a long distance program).

Once again many thanks indeed for your advice on this. Hope this works for the both of us.

It's too late to apply under the Physiotherapy cap. The cap is almost full and CIC is still working through applications received in August/September.

I just re-read your message. It looks like you might be asking about next year's FSW program.

In that case, there is no guarantee that the FSW program will accept applications next year (CIC might hold off until 2015 and the introduction of the EOI program). If CIC does accept applications next year, it is impossible to say if physiotherapists will be on the list.

However you can certainly prepare and hope things turn out your way.

Thanks for the advice, I wish to apply when the cap re-opens in May 2014.

EDIT: As always I'm hoping that it opens up in May/June 2014. Even if they push it by another 6 months, I reckon we would be able to push through provided Physiotherapist Cap remains open. But like most people we have a back-up plan, the IELTS, the background verification will still be valid while applying for Australia or New Zealand (although we will have to re-verify credentials with WES equivalent there) or even Denmark where she qualifies. If we see no light at the end of the tunnel for Canada, I might be seriously considering Australia or Denmark where she qualifies comfortably as an Epidemiologist or Public Health Practitioner.

Don't want to discourage you or anything. But CIC announced next EOI based system starting from Jan 2015, so a new batch for May 2014 seems unlikely (but no one knows for sure). And for 2015 No body knows how the system will work yet. You might qualify or you might not. But keep an eye on that news etc and try to get your education evaluation, IELTS etc in time so that you can apply as soon as it opens.
