Hello everyone!

I have applied under Skilled Workers class as a network engineer technician (2281). Currently, medical exam request has been sent to me by CIC. Now I am getting married within a month or so. I am aware that in order to add my wife as a accompanying dependent, i must inform cic about my marriage before i get my own PR. I want to ask you all:

1) should i inform CIC immediately now i.e. before i tie the marital knot, or should I wait and inform them once I actually get married?

2) what steps do i need to take to add my wife to my ongoing application as an accompanying dependent?

3) what steps (IELTS, medical, etc.) my wife will have to go through to be added to my ongoing application as an accompanying dependent?

Looking forward for quick valuable responses. Thank you.

If you get your visa and then get married, then your visa will no longer be valid and will create complications. So the best option for you is to send in your MR and along with it also inform the VO about your impending marriage and intent to add your future spouse in your application. The VO should then instruct you as to what you need to do.

Meanwhile, you should prepare additional documents for your spouse. This includes all the updated forms with your updated information, the background info and additional family information forms filled by your spouse, PCC for your spouse, and marriage certificate. Once these information have been verified by the VO, she will need to do her medicals and visas will hopefully be issued to both of you.

Thank you very much for your reply! I have another confusion: someone has told me that if you are adding spouse as an accompanying dependent to your on-going application, then pass marks on points scale may increase... i.e. the pass marks for single applicant with non-accompanying dependents is 67 which, after adding accompanying spouse, will increase to 73 or so. Is that true? Or does the pass marks still remains 67?
Would be really grateful for the guidance. Thanks.

Hello Brother,

Even after your marriage , Pass mask threshold remains 67 only.
