Hello All,

I am working in the area of Production Planning / Supply Chain for the past 6+ years.
I have switched jobs two times and every position was a little bit different under the encompassing Production Planning/Supply Chain category.
I have a Masters and Bachelors degree and I am planning to apply for FSW 2014.

However I don't have any managerial or supervisory experience and none of my titles/job descriptions use those words.

Which NOC code should I use ?

Should I use 0911 - Manufacturing Manager
- My job description used all the " plan, organize, evaluate" etc words used in the lead statement and main duties section.
- But I don't have the 5-10 years of "supervisory experience" mentioned in the "employment requirements" section.

Should I use 1215 - Supervisors, Supply Chain, tracking and scheduling coordination operations
- The lead statement mentions "supervise and co-ordinate activities of ...." Again I don't have the "supervise" experience.
- Also my profile doesn't have to do much with 1521 (shippers and Receivers), 1522 (storekeepers), 1524 (Dispatchers) and 1526 (Transportation route schedulers)
- Most of my profile is about 1523 (production logistics co-ordinators) and 1524 (purchasing and inventory control)
- Should I use 1215 as the main NOC code and 1523/1524 as the NOC codes in my experience sections in Form Economic Class IMM 0008 OR should I use NOC 1215 all the way ?

What has been your experience ?

Please let me know your opinion. I need to apply urgently.

1215 isn't on the occupation list. So unless you have a job offer in Canada and an approved LMIA, 0911 is your only option.

Thanks for this eye-opener but this had lead to a few more questions

1. Form IMM 008, section 12(a) asks to identify the primary occupation that will be used to access whether application meets the minimum program requirement. I will use NOC 0911 here. But in section 12(b) which is about previous experience, can I use any of the NOC codes not in the occupation list or do I have to use 0911 here as well. Again the reason I ask is that I don't have managerial/supervisory experience in my current and previous experience.

2. Is LMIA not required for those who apply under one of the NOC codes in Occupation list and get a PR via FSW program ?

Please let me know. I am learning as I go

Have you taken the IELTs test and have your results? Have you completed the ECA process? The FSW program will close on December 31st and then reopen in January under the new Express Entry program. If you want to apply under the current rules, your application needs to be received by CIC by December 31st. If you are just starting now (don't have IELTS, don't have ECA) - you don't have time to complete everything and submit your application by the end of the year.

I can answer No. 1: yes, in section 12 b you can use a NOC that is not in the eligible occupation list. One recommendation though would be to make a strong case in your job description if your going to apply for a category 0 NOC. I've heard from other forum members that CIC is very strict in this category. You have to include managerial responsibilities in your job description if you want to apply under this NOC.

Cheers!

@scylla - I have taken IELTS, and have ECA and police certificate as well. Hopefully I will submit my application in a couple of days.

@Koolaid - I understand the need to make a strong case but my experience letter will be more or less dictated by my employer (not very flexible). However, it does have all the plan, determine, control, coordinate, advise, act as primary contact, schedule, recommend etc language though. None of the NOC Occupation codes starting with 1,2,3,4, 4,5 suit my profile, so the only option is 0911 (as I mention I work in the production planning/supply chain field)

Also can anyone answer my 2nd question I raised above
2. Is LMIA not required for those who apply under one of the NOC codes in Occupation list and get a PR via FSW program ?
