Dear Friends,

I meet the requirement for both 2173 and 2174.

2174 seems to be a bit lower level (programmer)
2173 seems to be the next level, which needs one to have been 2174 eligible at some point in his/her career.

A lot of people eligible for 2173 will also be eligible for 2174, I believe.

Please clarify, which is better code to apply, in terms of ease of process and also which one will reach the CAP sonner.

Also, I havent done my Bachelors in computer science, but have done my MS in Software via Distant learning (part time).
I qualify for both 2173 and 2174 in terms of the work description and experience. Please advise which one to choose.

My wife is in 2131 & I am trying for 2171. i have the following questions on work experience:

1. My designation in my company is 'Project Manager' but my responsibilities & duties are of a 'Business Analyst' in BI domain involving Requirement Gathering, Clarification, Client management, Scope Management, Conducting UAT, etc. Do I fall under 2171?
2. Is it fine if my employer writes my designation as 'Project Manager', but all my responsibilities of a BA.
3. In my current company I am working for 4.5 yrs. Is it fine if I provide the work experience format as desired by CIC for current company only & for other companies with only the relieving letter.
4. I can only submit by July end. Do I have any chance.

2173 and 2714 are a bit similar but 2174 are much more into coding unlike 2173 it is more on the overall process of software development life cycle from planning up to deployment.

In FSW, as long as you have the ECA report you can apply don't worry on the job requirement of the job. Case officer will look into the job description and other work references to claim your point and be eligible.

Yes NOC 2174 will be the one to fill in first since it has a broader range of IT professionals who can apply under it.

Main duties

Database analysts perform some or all of the following duties:

Collect and document user requirements

Design and develop database architecture for information systems projects

Design, construct, modify, integrate, implement and test data models and database management systems

Conduct research and provide advice to other informatics professionals regarding the selection, application and implementation of database management tools

Operate database management systems to analyze data and perform data mining analysis.

May lead, co-ordinate or supervise other workers in this group.


Data administrators perform some or all of the following duties:

Develop and implement data administration policy, standards and models

Research and document data requirements, data collection and administration policy, data access rules and security

Develop policies and procedures for network and/or Internet database access and usage and for the backup and recovery of data

Conduct research and provide advice to other information systems professionals regarding the collection, availability, security and suitability of data

Write scripts related to stored procedures and triggers
