Hi All,

I have overall 10 years experience in IT.

Currently I am working as senior security analyst and I am applying under 2171 category with total 5 years in the same company.

Previously I had 5 years development experience in Java(Web Development), it falls under 2174 category.

I need advise, under which category should I apply so that probability is higher for acceptance of application by CIC?

Also, when should I mail the application as I have sealed the envelope ready for courier

Please reply at the earliest.

lastly, why are you asking for NOC category when you already sealed the envelop for courier? can you explain further.

My bad, I meant I am ready to seal the envelope , I am ready with all required docs and forms.
Just wanted to check number of aspirants I will be competing based on 2171 and 2174.
I am new to the forum, only experienced(old members) of this group can answer this question based on the trend they saw over the period of past few years.

Reading ,understanding and documenting existing system requirement for Health Care solution division ,US developed in AS400 and DB2 database and creating technical specifications from the functional requirements document. Assisting in creating design document using Miscrosoft visio tool.

Responsible for development , designing, enhancement and testing of new web and database management system for HSD Pharmacy using Java,JSP and DB2 database as per the requirements understanding and modifying existing data model and architecture and various tables used in the system.

To provide support in system and integration testing phase. To write SQL queries in DB2 database system to fetch results to conduct data analysis.

To identify technology limitations,gap,upgrade requirement and deficiencies in existing dbms system and web application and create or suggest procedures and processes for improvements. To evaluate and analyze new software development and database management tool and suggesting them to management for implementation.

Responsible for reviewing or supervising the development done by the team members and
repairing or suggesting improvements in the program performance if needed.

To Develop and enhance data and network models for efficient design, architecture and to
increase performance.

To code using JAVA and write SQL queries that are
comprehensive accurate and repeatable to test all type of scenarios.

Company 2: 09-2008 till 08-2010 (1 year 11 months) 2173

• Analyzing and evaluating system requirements and needs from clients and business analyst in US by interaction through email and regular teleconferences.
• Creating technical specifications from the functional requirements document.
• Responsible for reverse engineer and develop existing system of schedule report written in UNIX and PERL script into JAVA based system.
• Responsible for developing JAVA code as per the requirement and ensure that correct coding standards have been followed.
• System Testing, debugging, data analysis using SQL, diagnosing and correcting errors and faults in an applications programming language within established testing procedures and quality standards as per the project to ensure applications performs according to specification.
• Designing and developing test tools and automation framework using QTP and VB script, debugging and reporting code bugs and pushing quality upstream.
• Responsible for reviewing the development done by the team members and repairing or suggesting improvements in the program performance if needed.

You definitely fit only into 2173 based on your description, dont even think of 2172 as it is only for DBAs and you do not have that experience and skill set based on what you have written above.

By the way do you have everything ready with you to apply?

First of all, thanks for this new thread dedicated for IT guys.

I have worked as programmer analyst for first 4 years and then as senior software engineer for 3.5 years and now as technical lead for one year.

And in my all roles I was a developer in Microsoft technologies.

Now, confusion is, my first designation programmer analyst falls in 2174 and next two in 2173, so under which NOC I should apply?

Didn't knew this thread existed. Anyways, can someone confirm that a "web developer" (job title is defined under NOC 2175), apply under "web programmer" (NOC 2174)? There isn't much difference between these two job titles, so if I get my experience letter to show job title as web programmer, should it be acceptable?

Category 2175 is for web designers like HTML, CSS and mock-up developers.

It is quite different compared to 2174 which is for web programmers who code/program using Java/PHP/.Net and other such programming languages.

If your company has provided you reference letter for web programmer then you should apply under 2174.

Just make sure your duties match with the following criteria:

Computer programmers perform some or all of the following duties:
Write, modify, integrate and test software code
Maintain existing computer programs by making modifications as required
Identify and communicate technical problems, processes and solutions
Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software
Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements
Assist in the development of logical and physical specifications
May lead and co-ordinate teams of computer programmers
May research and evaluate a variety of software products.

Interactive media developers perform some or all of the following duties:
Program animation software to predefined specifications for interactive CDs, DVDs, video game cartridges and Internet-based applications

Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements
Assist in the development of logical and physical specifications

- Engagement with client to identify their technical requirements , Asses the client Environment , Advise & recommend the right IT & Business solutions ,setting the technical Road map that align with the Client ICT overall Plan, acting as the client technical focal point.
- Designing Solutions for Corporate Clients.
- Perform pre-project execution activities includes proposal, technical contents of bid, requirement documentation, detailed project objectives, BOQ/RFQs, presentations and Demos to effectively communicate project expectations.
- Arrange & initiate the Project deliverable & scope of services.

I am considering NOC 2171 ,would that be the right fit..?
