It seems that applicants under the FSW2014 program will be assessed according to the same criteria as FSW2013 program.

IELTS: Minimum 6 band score in each module (Listening Reading Writing Speaking)

Mandatory Educational credential assessment, WES has faster processing times therefore I will recommend WES.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2014, the Government of Canada announced new occupations and caps for the popular Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program. Additional important information has been announced for the Federal Skilled Trades (FST) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) programs.
The new changes go into effect for all three programs on May 1, 2014.
“This is a long-awaited and exciting announcement for applicants all over the world,” said Attorney David Cohen. “I am certain that in the coming days we will see an incredible amount of excitement generated for the FSW program in particular, which has historically been the most popular path to Canadian Permanent Residency.”

Federal Skilled Worker Announcements

Effective May 1, 2014, the FSW will be accepting an overall total of 25,000 new applications. Applicants must have at least one year of work experience in one of 50 eligible occupations. A maximum of 1,000 applications will be accepted per eligible occupation.

Applicants under the FSW program will be assessed according to the same criteria as 2013. Applicants are assessed on a points grid that takes into account important factors such as education, language skills, work experience, age, and adaptability to Canada. All applicants must meet minimum language requirements in either English or French.
In addition to skilled workers, the FSW program includes streams for PhD holders and individuals who have received eligible job offers from Canadian employers. A maximum of 500 PhD applicants will be accepted under the upcoming program. Applicants who hold valid job offers are not subject to any intake caps.

“While it is exciting to see so many occupations on this list, the most popular are likely to fill very quickly,” said Attorney David Cohen. “I strongly encourage anybody interested in this program to seize the moment and prepare to submit their application much sooner rather than later.”

Sorry to be posting the same question again in this thread, however, can someone please answer my question?

My situation - I worked as a temporary financial analyst for a bank here in Toronto from May 01.13 to May 31.13 for 40 hours per week. I have been working full time (meaning as a permanent employee) since June 06.13.
My concern - I have studied in Canada and I do not want to spend money and time gathering an ECA report. Hence I wanted to know if I will get 10 points under adaptability because I will have one year of work experience in the mid of May 2014. If not, I will have to get an ECA report and that means waiting longer, which I really do not want to do at this point.

Anyone, any advise?

Wow. That is quite a surprise

New caps for Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades Programs, and Canadian Experience Class
April 23, 2014 — Ottawa — Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander today announced new measures in key economic immigration programs to prepare for next year’s launch of Express Entry, Canada’s new active recruitment model. Express Entry will lead to a faster and more flexible economic immigration system that will address Canada’s economic and labour market needs.

To prepare for the launch of Express Entry in 2015, Citizenship and Immigration Canada will begin accepting applications under new caps for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC), starting May 1, 2014. These measures will ensure a steady supply of skilled workers who are settling in Canada permanently and helping to supplement the Canadian workforce in areas where there are skills shortages.

With the FSWP backlog on track for elimination this year, a new cap of 25,000 applications will provide the appropriate number of applications to support expected admissions in 2015. The list of eligible occupations – reflecting the latest labour market needs – will be more than doubled, from 24 to 50 occupations.

To support Canada’s need for skilled trades people, the FSTP cap will be increased to 5,000 applications. All 90 skilled trades designated under the program regulations will now be eligible for consideration, although sub-caps remain in order to ensure appropriate representation of occupations.

The CEC cap will be re-set at 8,000 applications, as of May 1, 2014, to cover the transition period leading up to Express Entry.

The full set of Ministerial Instructions will be available in the Canada Gazette on April 26, 2014.

Quick facts
These are the last FSWP, FSTP and CEC applications that will be accepted under the current system before Express Entry launches in January 2015.
Application caps ensure that the immigration programs continue to address labour market needs and that backlogs are not created.
The latest FSWP occupation list was developed based on recent labour market data from Employment and Social Development Canada and input from the provinces and territories on regional labour market needs.
Canada’s Economic Action Plan 2014 will invest $14 million over two years and $4.7 million per year ongoing to ensure the successful implementation of Express Entry.
Quote
“With these measures in place for our key economic programs, our government is ensuring our immigration system is addressing Canada’s economic and labour market needs while reducing backlogs and improving processing times. We look forward to the launch of Express Entry next January, which will be a major step forward in attracting the skilled workers we need and have them working in Canada faster.”

Chris Alexander, Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister

PCC can be sent at a later stage in case you are not able to obtain it on time but it is better to give reason in a cover letter why you were not able to send PCC with your initial application to CIC.

:D ;D
great news!

I have been waiting for this because noc 2174 sells like pancakes :)

My papers are now ready for submission:

Here's my profile:

took ielts last year : over all band score: 7 L- 6.5, R- 7.0, W-6.5 and S-7.5
wes done : processing time took me a month
PCC: Submitted two PCC, one for home country and work country where I am working.
Settlement Funds: Bank Statement for six months and Bank Certificate from bank in home country and work country
Age: 28
Work Experience : 7 Years up

It was really good news for me, because last april 4,2014 the settlement funds were updated so I gotta feeling that fswp 2014 will be opening this may. But got distracted with the Express Entry.

Please keep this thread updated :)

Thanks! :P :o ;D :D ;)

It is so exciting to hear this fantastic news for FSWP 2014 with some new NOC's Code and best part is this time the CAP has been increased to 1000 applications per NOC. Best of Luck to all those who failed to make it to the CAP last year. God bless all. :D :D
