Hi Diplomatru,

Thanks for the sharing. This is really a good news.

Then i have a question. I am planning to do landing this weekend. But in my COPR letter, the first and last entry date is all blank. I don't know why. Maybe because I submitted my PR application in US, and I never entered Canada by that time. However, I resided in Canada from June 2015. When I can change this information? Can I amend it during landing or somewhere else after landing? Or I should do this before landing?

Thank you so much. Or anyone can give any suggestion, it would be much appreciate :)

You can amend that after landing.

I am planning to land Canada in Detroit-Windsor land border. Do I need to take PR Card photo with the landing? Can we take the PR card photo at the port of entry?

They never asked for any PR photos. Did landing at coutts in Jan. Neither I have heard of anyone here who was asked for any pictures

But which photo is used for the PR card? The photo on the CoPR.

However, the photo on my CoPR is in OLD Size. There is a new requirement of photo size for the PR card.

The one sent with the application. You applied approx same time as me should be good.

Did they ask for photos from you with the COPR? If no don't bother.

I know this may sound silly and I have read the CIC website but guess I just need a reconfimation or just hear it out from someone here.

To stay/maintain a PR of Canada- do I have an obligation for staying such and such period of time in Canada per year? I believe the 183 days rule is for applying for citizenship and NOT MAINTAIN PR STATUS.

I'm I wrong?
TIA

Right...These are two separate issues:

1. Time you must be present in Canada to be eligible to apply for Citizenship.
*You must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least 1,460 days during the six years immediately before the date of your application. You must also be physically present for at least 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years immediately before the date of application.

2. Time you must be present in Canada to not loose your Permanent Resident status.
*When you are a permanent resident, you can live outside of Canada, but must live in Canada for at least two years in a five-year period. If you live outside of Canada for longer, you may lose your permanent resident status. This is examined when you apply to renew your PR Card:

A) If you have been a permanent resident for five (5) years or more
•you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five (5) years.

B) If you have been a permanent resident for less than five (5) years
•you must show that you will be able to meet the minimum of 730 days of physical presence in Canada within five (5) years of the date you became a permanent resident.

Thank you. This clarifies well :)

Hi all,

I am running into 9th week after landing, but the PR card has not arrived yet. I just read above that ojohn22 received his PR card within 5 weeks.

Why is the timeline so variable? Shall I just email at CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca or is there a better way to contact CIC at this stage.

Thanks.

Guys, I received my PR card today. Here it is my timeline:
Landed: January 19, 2016 at Vancouver
PRC received on March 8, 2016
No photo re-submission request

Good luck for everybody who is waiting! ;)
