The return tracker of mine is finally activated.

Congrats gavin_cic. It would be awesome if you joined our advocacy group and contacted the MPs to request C-24 repeal.

Hi
Anyone in this group currently living in Alberta Canada, is planning to land Coutts or Carway soon?
Please let me know. I am planning too. We can go together.

Tracking number of my return package got activated this afternoon.

I live in Calgary and I'm also looking for someone who wants to land in Coutts or Carway soon. Please let me know and I would be happy to go with someone else (we can share the gas or car rental costs).

ps. I don't have a car!

Hi friends,

Would you tell me how long it takes for cpc to return the passport from the day they receive it? Mine was received by cpc on Jan 15 but no tracking activation yet!

Thanks

Now, it would be around two weeks. I guess your turn will come before this weekend.
Reference: my passport arrived CPC on 12 Jan.

Hi everyone,

I need your insight for my special situation.

I received my PPR email on Jan 20. Because that I have to travel outside of Canada between Jan 30 & Feb 17. I plan to submit my passport to Ottawa and ask for an extension. I have two questions.

1. The passport needs to arrive at their Ottawa office within 30 days. When they count the 30 days, do they treat the day I emailed their email as the 1st day? Or the 1st day start from the next day (Jan 21)?

2. I have emailed CIC asking for an extension and received an auto response saying their turnaround time for replying my request is 20 working days. That's essentially 30 days. Do you know how to get them answer me sooner? I really need an answer before I leave.

Any of your insight and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If I were you, I would directly call CIC. I dont remember the phone number, but you can find it in this or other threads of this forum. Wish you all the best!

keep calling until you get a cooperative agent on the line. They can make a note to your file in GCMS.

Thanks, Diplomatru.

I have emailed them. Would my email show up on the GCMS note? I guess that having it on GCMS note means that I did contacted CIC, but it does not guarantee anything when the 30 days have reached. Isn't it?

Would my email show up on the GCMS note? not unless an agent reads it and inputs the data into GCMSI guess that having it on GCMS note means that I did contacted CIC, but it does not guarantee anything when the 30 days have reached. Isn't it? it's a management system primarily, so the responsible clerk at CPC-O printing location will get a reminder if there's a note to your file from the call centre

Thank you very much. Also, my return tracker got activated this afternoon :) My passport was arrived to Ottawa on Jan 15th. So, it will take about 10 days for them to send back the passports.

Hey Diplomatru, hope you're doing well. Good to see you still going strong on the forum. I wonder if you could help me again. We have received our visas, and plan on a short landing in July this year. The plan is to shift permanently in early 2018. I was wondering two things:

1) When does the clock start ticking for the 4 out 6 years timeline for getting citizenship? For instance, if we apply for citizenship in 2022, that would mean that we would have to be present in Canada continuously from 2018 to 2022. Is this how it works?

2) Say if we stay this year for 2-3 months and come back, and then again in the summer of 2017 for 2-3 months before going there permanently in 2018, would these 5-6 months count towards the 4 out of 6 years for citizenship if we apply for it in 2022?

Thanks, as always, for your help

Cheers
